Shelby Lynne was profiled this morning on the CBS Sunday Morning program. From what I gathered her recording experience was similar to Janis's due to the fact that Shelby didn't like the way the record companies mandated what she would sing and when she would sing. It was very interesting. She has a new album out that commemorates Dusty Springfield. The album is called, "A Little Bit of Lovin."

Shelby Lynne is one of those artists that people don't know how to categorize (country, blues, pop, folk,...) and she got lost in the process. She's been around a long time. In fact a few years back, she won the Grammy for Best New Artist despite being around for 13 years and having made seven albums. I have her "I Am Shelby Lynne" album and it's good. Her work is critically acclaimed but unfortunately goes unheard.
