Yesterday I sat and watched my other winning from the auction.... the St. Louis Concert from The Grand Center.... what an special show.... and to see all those Rudie faces in the audience... They did a wonderful job at taping it, and it's nice to watch with no commercial interruption.

Hehehehe!!! That was so much fun!!! Let's do it again!!!
I don't think anyone has yet give you your due praise, Karen! You are an exceptional auctioneer, and certainly a most effective and successful one!
That was an amazing outpouring of $$$$, and you were the one who inspired such generosity with your patter...Yea, Karen!!:D

Those were fun. Karen and her assistant did a fine job, and Marjan’s commercial breaks were a hoot!
I am a little surprised that nobody bid on the “lovely artiste” tho.

Oak, once again you've created a stellar video, complete with appropriate captions and a commercial. It takes me back to that little slice of time in Rudieville (was it just last Saturday?). I, like many others I am sure, anxiously await the final episode. I know you're working, the question is are you sleeping?
thanks,
Joan

I think the "lovely artiste" may be too priceless to bid on!!
You’re right Mary. The “kind & lovely” – my term of endearment for her – Janis Ian is beyond being bid on.
By the way, I’ve been meaning to ask you something. Does your garden REALLY grow with silver bells, and cockle shells, and pretty maids all in a row?

No, Dee, it grows with lamb fertilizer... cause "every where that Mary went, that lamb was sure to GO"!!! I always have to watch where I step with that darn lamb around. :D

A very fun and successful auction. And Dee, if you listen quite closely, "she who shall remain unnamed" bid 50 cents for the lovely artiste! :D

It isn't that we didn't want to bid on Janis she kept telling us she needed Pat's permission to put herself on the auction block first. It certainly wasn't for lack of trying...:D

Oh, the old, "I'll have to ask my husband" cop, eh? Geeze, Janis. Just say "NO, (but thanks anyway"), and shine 'em on. :D

Oak, many thanks for the fun videos. I have to say that of the various events I've missed I am most sorry for missing this one. Indeed a loss on my part.
And yes, bravo! to the distinguished auctioneer / all around smartass Karen and her lovely & talented assistant Eva. You were both a treat to watch.

Did the censored bit have anything to do with the Iowa Sunrise Tactical Wardrobe Squad bursting out of the shrubbery and making off with Janis' clothes? I've heard rumors....

Oak, thank you for the wonderful collection of videos you've put up on You Tube! It's especially fun to hear Janis speak about her book, to see the inspired bidding on the auction segments, and to hear Marjan at least chant about Pole Dancing. You've done a great job and it's bookmarked for posterity! Thanks!:D

Something tells me Karen has some previous auctioneering experience.
My only experience is from attending and buying! I had never gone to an auction until a few years ago. My friend and I found an auction house nearby that has an auction every Wed. We go on Tues. to see what they are offering that week. If there's nothing we want, we don't go. It's so much fun. Sometimes you get what you want, other times things go for more than you want to spend. My philosophy is that if you are patient, whatever you want will eventually show up. I have bought several pieces of furniture, as well as pictures, books, household stuff and chachkies (sp?). Last year Wendy even found a couple of things that she won. My friend is notorious for bidding on things that she doesn't want -- thinks she bidding on something else. I've done that only once. I bid on a box of books and it wasn't the box that I thought it was.
My only actual auctioneering experience was at the 2006 Rudie-Q.
Well then all those auctions you attend must have sunk in Karen because you did a stellar job, especially with all that activity going on around you!

This is sooooo funny, who would think it would've come to this, when I first caught Marjan poledancing two years ago. Yes I gave her the name! Well the poledancer is with us in Fla. and I'm sure we can find her a few poles!

Kath....looking at that pic of Eva....she didn't steal your tail, did she?
I mean...pirating is pirating, but some things are sacred.
Marjan taught me all the right moves. She is a far greater poledancer than I'll ever be. My specialty is plundering and terrorizing, thank you. The tails are Redjack's, by the way; didn't want to ruin Kath's goodlookingness (she fully fits in my 'cute butch category' I tell you :o )

The edited version was aired (at least in St. Louis) on PBS very shortly after the event. I watched it and loved it on TV (of course, it'll stay saved on my DVR), but the experience of actually being there and hearing all of Janis's stories with her timing and sense of humor and sense of self -(she does own the stage) -- well! There's just no comparison. But I'm preaching to the choir, I know.

I was there too. It was a spectacular show. fyi-the out of town rudies had seats in the first two rows stage left. I was a few rows back on the same side.

Marcia, I hope to meet you and many of the Rudies, here. Now somebody help me out - I'm not directionally-challenged (at least, I don't think so) but have forgotten. Stage Left - is that left from the point-of-view of the person(s) on stage? If so, then yes, that's where I was, right up front. (And the top of my head was visible in the PBS special airing.) If Stage Left means left from the audience point-of-view (and based on the name, I don't think so), then I was on the other side. In that case, I must have seen some Rudie wannabe's!
Stage Left - is that left from the point-of-view of the person(s) on stage?
No, that would be Stage Right. The point of view is of the person watching the stage
Eva
It can be confusing. According to http://redbirdstudio.com/AWOL/stage.html
"Stage right is the actor's right as the actor stands on the stage facing the audience. Stage left is the actor's left as the actor stands on the stage facing the audience."
