Randy & Betty in Pa

Well, we wandered in and found seats on two of the 7 chairs that they had put out... I mean afterall it was 12:45pm on a Monday Afternoon... Well the employees brought out another dozen or so seats and Janis stepped up to the mike... Janis began her speech and within minutes all the seats were filled and the isles were cluttered with awe struck people listening intently... The format of her discussion was slightly different then that we heard at Pittsburgh but equally effective... After the discussion Janis introduced Betty and I to Ernie & Carol... Ernie worked security for Janis some years back and well had a white beard and long hair... I mean how could we not get along!!! Well it turned out we went to the same High School, had run ins with the same Assistant Principle, and even shared some friends from the day. Its funny because we had seen them at several concerts in the past and well he stuck out like a true hippie... You all know the look!!!!!

Just for the record Janis was scheduled to spend a couple hours with the fine folks from NPR radio WDIY... Not sure when it will be aired...

Janis did so well that she will do another reading tommorrow afternoon.... Soooooooo if your in the area of Bethlehem Pa. tomorrow at 1pm stop by....Then tomorrow night she will be performing at Leiderplatz, a free show!!!!

Janis did seem somewhat impressed by the scope of this particular festival and was going to try to wander around town and see some of the many venues and street performers....

Another good day even though we are still tired....

Best to all

randy,
i observed a similar reaction at the Pittsburgh signing, it seemed as tho the more Janis spoke, the more people stopped and listened when it was plain that this was not their original plan. and a few of them evene bought the book! all cause Janis spoke.
