So as of last week......this Icelander is the first Icelander (and propably the second, after Marjan, european) to have a copy of http://www.amazon.com/Best-Janis-Ian-Autobiography-Collection/dp/B001ADSGNO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1215552134&sr=8-1 and thereby owe all of Janis Ian cd´s she has ever published. What a piece of work this cd is and thank you Giver for this copy............you sure made my heart spin an extra beat when openin the gift from you.

Of course this cd is constantly in my player these days and will be for a while.....what a treasure it is......and may I say...THANK GOD THEY CHANGED THE COVER....it is breathtaking.

I like the rerecordings on this album, I am kind of thinking if the arrangement of Some Peoples Life is in the direction of Bette Midlers version....can it be?

Anyway thank you from the bottom of my heart dear Rudie for thinking so kindly to me, you are a blessing.:)

I quite like the new recording of "His Hands"--as a contrast to the original it's astonishing. Janis gives the lyrics just the right amount of anger and disgust to remind the listener that it is not a song about good things. Even the instrumentals have a sinister edge to them which virtually guarantees that the arrangement will not be forgotten.

Not sure what I'd think of this song if this was the first recording of it I'd heard. But as half of a set of meticulously crafted bookends, it's wonderful. And provides a fine example of how a set of lyrics can have a completely different impact depending on arrangement and intonation.
