I thought it might be fun to have a guessing competition with photos of unusual items. The one who guesses then has to put up a photo of something else.

Okay Mary, congratulations - it's your turn to post a photo. Yes, you place the cup on the top of a boiled egg, lift the ball and drop it, and the top of the egg comes off as clean as a whistle. Mary6906
07-09-2008, 07:13 AM
EVA... I guess you WIN....

It is:
An egg shell cutter, or egg topper, used for cutting off the top of a soft boiled egg.

http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg317/Mary6906/what-is-it-game-47.jpg

1-3/8" inside diameter
Similar to a scissor in design, this kitchen tool snips off the top of a soft-boiled egg so it can be eaten while still in the shell. The Cutter, which may also be referred to as an Egg Topper, is placed over the tapered end of the egg and the two handles are squeezed together to close a ring of teeth around and through the egg shell. The teeth enclosed in the Egg Topper cut through the shell so the top of the shell can be lifted up and removed from the remainder of the shell. Then the egg shell can be placed in a small egg cup with the open end up, so the egg can be served for eating. Made from stainless steel, the Topper utensil can be easily cleaned by hand or in a dishwasher. The Egg Topper may also be referred to as an Egg Snipper or Egg Shell Scissor.

Although if those teeth are sharp enough... you probably could use it for "other" things!!

I KNEW DaveM would know what it was, so I figured if he was out of town, everyone else would be kept guessing for a while. So Dave, since Roady opted out, that makes you the stuckee for the next item.

Some of those fire grenades are pretty elaborate in terms of colors and designs, and bottle collectors will pay hundreds of dollars for them. So if you ever come across one, don't throw it at anything! Dave, I am not sure what the liquid is inside those things.

Hoops--these are RUDIES. They care about FOOD. My choice is coffee, obviously, but I guess you are on your own in the beverage department.

the only two things I ever get in Starbucks is 1) during the summer I get the Vanilla Bean Frappucino Creme Blend (nothing but milk, vanilla bean, ice and whipped cream) and 2) during the colder months I get the Caramel Apple Cider (100% apple juice with cinnamon syrup, whipped cream and caramel sauce drizzle on top) -- liquid dessert...MMMMmmm.

Coffee shall not touch my lips!!

I am quite happy with both tea and coffee, thank you very much (does that make me some sort of fence-sitter?), however, I do not go to places like Starbucks. I refuse to put anything in my mouth that I cannot pronounce and even if I could, cannot understand.

Mind, it is lots of fun to go to Starbucks, wait while the people in front of me order the "mumbo-jumbo coitus interruptus yuppie headtrip" and then ask for "a cup of coffee".

Coffee? Drinking it now as I do to begin every morning. I make my own using a French style coffee press. Tea is my boyfriend's preference. I probably drink about four cups of tea a year and that’s more than enough for me.

But we still don't know what Eva's contraption is. Will we ever know, I wonder?
