I'd cross my fingers for you, too, David, except they're too gnarled by arthritis to be crossed. :p

Hey, you'll be fine. True you won't be able to sit comfortably for a while, but after a year of pain, what's a little more.

Speaking as one whose blood pressure goes up 20 points just at the sight of a white lab coat (I won't even mention needles), I'd say you're fully entitled to be a "wimp" before surgery. Make sure to demand pampering, along with all the painkillers you can beg, borrow, or steal. If nothing else, the latter will make the time pass more quickly.

Somebody get this man some stroopwaffels!

Jó volt egy kicsit Magyarul beszélni. Akor is ha csak egy pár percet. :)

David, don't bite the nurse! Get well.
It was good to speak Hungarian with you. Even if it was just for a short moment.

Bat, when my dad had surgery for hemroids he got some kind of paraffinoil which he had to take several times a day to make things go... ehm... smoother, so to say. I am sure David will get something similar too. And the exhauste was already worrysome for more than a year. Things can only get better for David! :)

We never had this many buttstories here, did we? :o

Great to be home- it went very well indeed:)

My first general anaesthetic ever- last thing I remember the anesthetist was talking to me about my years in Hungary then suddenly I was in a different room with 2 completely different people, feeling a bit sore down below...

After an intravenous pain killer injection I was wheeled back up to my room feeling weak but fine... they had morphine ready but I didn't need it. In fact every hour or so they came asking when I wanted my painkillers, and I had to say "but I have no pain" :p They were quite surprised...

This was not surgery for haemorrhoids, but for a tear in the muscle up the back end so they had to cut through it and stitch it up which can apparently be very painful afterwards.

I had a sleepless night and came home feeling rather weak but very happy- I am actully sitting at my computer in no doiscomfort at all.

I have been signed off work for 2 weeks to recover, and will experience some pain and discomfort in the next week, but all the pain I went through in tha last year will now be gone YAY.....

hope this is not too much info for some people

but I have just had my first bodily functions since the op and am overjoyed that over a year of horrific pain is gone just 2 days after the operation....

I say this just to encourage anyone else who ever suffers from a similar living hell- go under the knife:)
yay!

Oh David, although it's a s***ty story you know how to present it very elegantly. And I'm very glad for you that it all feels better. I think some things are just very basic for the human body. Like sleeping, eating and ehm... yes. And if those basic things don't work well it can feel really bad.
