I went out to Lancaster, CA. a few days ago to see the poppies in bloom. It was pretty, and I wanted to share a few pics with you guys. Hope you like...

Nice, Dougster, I think I'll use one of them as my desktop photo.... I need to feel like Spring is happening!

Are you sure you're not in Afghanistan Dougster? :D

Spring has sprung for sure. We have sprung into Autumn, but the weather is so confusing that nature has some of our spring wildflowers blooming again.

Fantastic, must have been a real treat to be there, watch and inhale all of this beauty we see in the pictures.

Sure makes me homesick...I had a whole hillside full of 'em in Marin. Gorgeous! Wonderful beautiful pics, Dougster!
Thanks.

Thank you Dougster for sharing those beautiful photos. As I've mentioned before, in my garden I'm a bit of a poppy freak. I got a packet of Californian poppy seeds free in our Sunday newspaper magazine a couple of year ago; I scattered them in the garden and was delighted when they flowered.

In honour of a favourite Rudie, they are known to my family as the "Dar" poppies! It is lovely to see how they look in a wild setting - I remember Dar telling me that they were a protected species. We are visiting CA later this year and they will be gone by then, so thanks again Dougster!

Hi to all who remember me - looking forward to reading the book in July, Janis!

So glad you guys liked them! Spring is just around the corner. It looked like the poppies were really going to be in full bloom in a week or so. They had over two miles of winding paths! Thanks for your nice comments.
