Cerritos California Concert March 26, 2008 - Photos

It was a great show. And a day I'll always remember. I got to help with merchandise, hang out before the show, take photos, and watch the show from back stage. I'm sure you all can appreciate what a BIG thing that was for me. The Ol' Dougster has loved Janis since he was a "kid" himself.

The first photo I want to share is one I took of Janis doing her sound check. You can see how nice the venue is, and I love this shot of her standing alone on stage.

The crew really loved Janis. I heard one guy say "she is really cool." They all chatted with her as she set up.

I am trying to resize the pics as they are coming out very big. I'm glad that the soundcheck shot came out large though. And I'm so glad you guys like it. I like Kathleen's idea!! It is currently the "background" on my computer screen and it looks really good.

Doug and Kari at Merchandise table... After the show Janis had a very big line of people waiting to buy merchandise and meet her. Items for sale were "Folk Is The New Black", "Billies Bones", "Souveniers" and Club Cafe DVD. There were many people that said "I want to buy everything!" Janis made new fans, and some old fans were able to re-connect with her.

I'll bet Janis is missing her guitar tech. And yes, I got to carry one of the guitars. Of course, I was also careful. But those cases are pretty rugged! Thanks for the added photos.

After the show the theater manager was speaking to Janis. I could hear him tell her what a great performer she was. "A wonderful storyteller and a great guitar player." He said that she really held the audience captive for the entire show, and that it was hard to do in such a large venue. He was right.

With lots of merchandise sold and many donations to The Pearl Foundation, it was time to say goodbye...(Poor old Doug had worked up a sweat trying to get all the customers satisfied in a timely manner). People were just "eating her up" as we all do.

Definitely great shots Doug. I wish I knew the trick to include photos with the post (and not as attachment) but it said the file could only be 39Kbs. I can't figure out how your great shots are less than 39Kbs. Mine are way more than that.

As for file size, if you're using a digital camera, it should come with photo editing software with resizing capability.

Very nice photos Doug. I envy your photographer skills. How did you get all that in one photo in the stairs/balcony pic? At the Janis concert in Framingham I couldn't even remember how to turn my camera on. :( I guess I should practice before the next show.

The pics are inspired, the venue is beautiful, and Janis and everyone else look very happy at the outcome of a very successful show...nice to get kudos from the manager, too; obviously, he was impressed. The picture of the two of them, however, looks like he is laying down the law, and Janis is looking back at him with her famous, "Sez Who?" look...not at all what it seems, I reckon, just good stuff coming down. Nice work all around, Dougster, you talented handsome devil, you! :D
