This kind of goes with Dar's "It's May" thread, and we haven't done something like this in quite awhile.

My very favorite would have to be lilacs, followed by hyacinths and tulips. I just wish they would LAST longer!

Mine would be lathyrus, fresias and lavender :) In fact, this very morning, I bought a fairly large amount of lathyrus and my house is filled with their fragrance - mmmmmm :)

Having just spent the month of April in Virginia, I realized how much I'd missed Wisteria and Azaleas. Here in Denver, my Lilac tree is in full, glorious bloom and that's almost as good! :)

Having just spent the month of April in Virginia, I realized how much I'd missed Wisteria and Azaleas. Here in Denver, my Lilac tree is in full, glorious bloom and that's almost as good!Having just been in Virgina myself when you were there too, here are my notes...

First, the Cherry Blossoms in DC were beauteeeful. :)

Then, there were Redbud all over the place. :)

The Wisteria was blooming in Williamsburg. :) I have Wisteria that I planted around my front porch and I'll probably never get the damned things to bloom. Sigh. Oh well, I tried.

When we were in Blue Ridge area of North Carolina, we were a bit early for the Azaleas and the Rhodies in most places (which was a shame) But I did manage to see one or two native Rhodies blooming :) And there was the area around Chimney Rock where some people had their Azaleas blooming that were magnifico! I've been too chicken, Mixty, to even try Azaleas here. I know some folks try it, I do not know what results that gives.

As to my fave spring wildflowers, well, my REAL faves are all in the mountains, they are the wildflowers. I like Parry's Primrose, I like Mimulus (Monkey Flower!), I like Rocky Mountain Iris (Iris missouriensis). There are other faves too, but I'd have to refresh myself on them.

Spring is my fave season!

Here in mid-western Vermont, the apple blossoms are just coming out...this week they should truly burst forth. Lilacs are a bit away.. they will probably peak while I'm in San Francisco.

I have a soft spot for crocuses and daffodils, which are always the first hopeful harbingers of spring here.

I am not much of a gardener, but I appreciate those who have a talent for it.

Karen, you got my favorite flower!

Lilacs, beautiful fragrant lilac bushes. However I also have a fondness for lupine, they remind me of my early summer trip to Sweden, they were so tall! Primroses are also so pretty and smell so good aswell.

Mmmm... I should get out there and smell some of those flowers today.

For fragrence, I just love the lilacs. We've spent considerable cash trying to get one to take in our yard, but don't have the soil/sun to keep one going.

Daffodils make me happy! We have "Daffodil Days" at work where we can purchase a small bunch. It's such fun to see all the bright yellow popping up in the sterile cubicles.

Texas wildflowers...Bluebonnets, Indian Blankets, Swamp Sunflowers, Carolina Jessamine, to name a few. This stuff is in full bloom along the highways and byways of central Texas. Not to mention a couple of patches growing in my front and back yards.

I love when the redbud trees are in bloom...that stunning fuchia against newly green grass. Also lilacs take me way far back to my grandmother's house...they were always on the big oak dining table in the Spring.

The snowdrops, crocus and daffodils really make me feel that Spring is on it's way. My favourite flower is Clematis Montana, which is all over my front porch at the moment. Hundreds of tiny pale pink flowers against dark brown leaves. I reminds me of my grandmother who died in 1982, it grew all over her garden shed, we had to cut it away to open the door!

This is just for Eva.... I have these all over my garden, my Mum calls them weeds, but I love them (and the same goes for foxgloves too).

My tulips are singing their last hurrah, the Iris are starting, should be in full bloom by the end of the week, and I went out on the porch to catch a whiff of the most heavenly perfume--wondered what it was--not the peonies, they are in bud but not blooming yet; ah! Lilies of the Valley are in full blossom, and smelling their little heads off! Lovely on the night air!
I expect the Peonies and roses in the next couple weeks, and the lily, too.
Then the summer/day lilies will start ... I am going to have to try to kill a wild grapevine...wish it grew real grapes instead of those little fake things, drat.
It is just about a month early for everything...the yews are putting out their new shoots already, and it was almost July for them last year.
Global Warming??...nah.

I love all of the spring flowers, but I think my favorites are forget-me-nots, tulips, lilacs and bearded iris. We have one variety that smells just like concord grapes and I can never walk past them without stopping to smell them! Lily of the Valley too! And violets! Oh! And spurge. And grape hyacinths! Don't forget Scilla Sibericus.

Ok, I'll stop now. :D

The weather in central Indiana has been lovely the past several days, so when I'm out, the top of my convertible is usually down. Driving through wooded areas, every once in awhile I get the wonderful smell of locust trees in bloom!

I have to go with lilacs too, the aroma is just sooooooo welcoming, and they come so early in the spring. crokuses would be next because they are the true first sign even thru the snow, of spring.
