Hi, All,

I've just been rooting around in my album collection, (note 'album', not CD), and decided to catch up on a couple of oldies I haven't played for a while.

The one(s) which stood out are a couple of albums by Dory Previn, ('Mythical Kings and Iguanas' and 'Reflections in a Mud Puddle'), and I guess the reason for this is that at the recent UK LRC, I was talking with Strech, and we both agreed that few people knew her name, let alone her music, so.............

Thanks, Strech, for reminding me of this lady, I'm looking forward to listening to the songs again without the 'clicks and pops' as I've just ordered a couple of CDs from Amazon, (blast their vast repertoiric soul), and if there are a few persons out there who don't know Dory's music, I think you may just like it. Janis may tug at the heart strings, may nudge here and there in a particular direction, whilst Dory attempts, and somewhat succeeds, to rip your heart out of your still breathing body, and doesn't so much as point you in a direction but rather fires you there as from a cannon, yet there are similarities.

A bit 'in your face' at times, and not as great a wordsmith as 'you know who', but definitely worth a listen. The lady has soul!

'scuse me whilst I 'Ramble On'.

Regards,

PeteCC

PS If anyone would like to argue the existence of the word 'whilst', then I suggest, almost diffidently, that Manchester is the one to call. :)

Good one, Pete! I remember that conversation at the LCR, good for you.

nb: To clarify, I never denied the existence of the word, just the context in which you used it in that particular email. As I recall, it was you who started being picky that day!

No probs Pete, it was great to be able to discuss Dory Previn with another fan. I was begining to think i would never meet anyone else who had even heard of her let alone bought her albums, mind you if i'm not mistaken i'm sure it was Anna from Dublin that said she went to one of her concerts years ago.So there we have it , three people who know of Dory Previn at the same place at the same time.. we've made history guys ;)
