With all the ideas and creativity we tend to drag up here.... It seems to me that as friends perhaps we enjoy being inspired to do things together.... Most of which are usually very positive, every now and then less so.... I for one enjoy and appreciate it when I am considered to be trusted enough to take on a mission to assist Janis (or the foundation)... That said, what if we put some energy to finding ways to make this a record year for the Pearl Foundation? Many of us are somewhat aware of the works of the Pearl Foundation and it's importance not just to Janis but to those that the foundation helps but also to the way we get to feel when we've enjoyed the Holiday sale, or shoving a pocketful of change into the tip jar at a concert... Those are good feelings and I think we might want to consider ways to share those feelings with others...

For any new Rudies here on the site... by all means look at the provided info about Janis's Pearl Foundation...

So anyway what a positive and lofty goal for us as Rudies to share... I am not suggesting anyone do or give more then they wish or are able to give... but just so you know it's a nice feeling to get rid of change at concerts...

With just a little effort by us all we could sure change the numbers for this year for the foundation by doing simple things.... These are just ideas and should anyone wish to use them please by all means feel free to do so...

1) An at home Pearl Foundation tip jar.... Just a place at home to throw all the annoying, dirty, pesky pennys... Then once or twice a year change it in and send the check to the Foundation or drop the check into THE (at concert) TIP JAR

2) IF you wish and can afford it you could levy a self imposed PER POST TAX... I can only imagine how much this website costs the Foundation monthly.... And we get the privilege and honor to use it at no cost... And boy do we use it... Betty and I have found so many new and precious friends because of this board... What if (again only if you chose to and can afford it) a person were to decide to pay a penny a post or whatever amount they descided was right for them as an individual then pay that amount when they felt the time was right?

These are things we can do to support Janis for the friendship, art and music she has given us over the years.... This is not intended in anyway to represent personal obligations, instead just to remind us all. (myself very much included) that we get something special out of Janis and the Foundation, Some might not think to participate simply because it dosen't come to mind... Sometimes if things are not mentioned they get forgotten.... Often I have missed opportunities to feel good simply because "I forgot"...

Anyway, anybody have thoughts about this? Can we help cause a record year for the foundation?

Best to all

Hi Randy,

Glad you are on the mend. I have been thinking about creating some more "Rude Girl Touring Action Figures" that could be put up for auction at the picnic in August to benefit the Pearl Foundation. I just have to figure out how to find the time to do it. My reserve assignment has me teaching graduate level seminars which requires a lot of course prep, plus I am teaching a two week intensive course in June over ten days. This is on top of my full-time civilian job.

Ha.... Another idea for those at home that choose to participate.... Plug a Janis CD in at home and pay a penny or so per song or CD... (Each person sets an amount they can afford and live with)... Just think... then you will really know how much your listening..... and equally important when you mail or drop the check in the tip jar at a concert you will get to feel very special...

Janis, Judy?... Can we post the mailing address for the Pearl Foundation just in case anybody would like it?

Best to all
