Who would have thought that after four years of getting my place exactly the way I want it, I would wind up buying the condo next door? So, I am moving from my one bedroom townhouse (upstairs bedroom/downstairs living and dining and kitchen) to the two bedroom two bath condo next door. I signed the contract yesterday and should close the transaction on Friday. Things move pretty fast in my life once I make up my mind to do something. The painters and floor people are coming tomorrow to give me bids, and I'll give myself a month to make the move; only taking what I really want for the first time in my life. Ususally it's just hurry up and pack everything and sort it out later, only later never comes. Wish me luck!

Good Luck, my friend!
I hope it's everything you are hoping it will be!

Elliott that sounds good! The only bad thing to moving that closeby is that you think "Nae, I don't need movers or a moversvan. I'll just carry it over there." We did that when my ex girlfriend moved. It was no fun. But two bedrooms, two bathrooms! Wow...

I wish you luck and succes

Thank you both! And Eva, with my back in the condition it's in now after years of "working" on people, I don't lift anything heavier than a popcycle. And the last time I painted my house was, in fact, the last time I'll ever paint a house... I'll leave that to the pros and youngsters.

Hmmm......Dee can probably give you lots of advice about neighbors and landlords.

Good luck Elliot and unpack as soon as you can....I have boxes up in my attic that I put up years ago. I don't even know what's in them anymore!

I just got the first bid for paint and some tile work.... $7,385.00. That works out to over a million dollars a year; nice work if you can get it. Looks like I'll be spending my weekends at Home Depot! :(

Well I confess I have unpacked boxes from my last move still sitting here in plain view. I do know what's in them tho, like the one that contains all my paper files waiting to be put in the filing cabinet drawers.

Elliott, not long ago when we were remodelling the kitchen, we paid to have everything done (including the floor tiling.) But when it came to tiling the backsplash, the area behind the stove and a large area aroung the fridge I was just stunned at what that was going to cost. "Ah, what the hell," I thought, "I'm going to try doing this part myself...worst that can happen it that it will all fall down and I will have to pay someone to do it." So I read, talked with people and chose a tile that was spaced together on plastic net and off I went (making sure to choose a weekend when I was going to be home alone in my mess.) Ya know, it just wasn't that tough and looks pretty darn good. (And with doing it myself, we were able to buy a more expensive tile that we liked better.)
