Thank you all for your thoughts.

Unfortunately, looks like it'll not be as happy as I had hoped.

I spoke to one of my cousins the night before last, he's just recovering from surgery for bowel cancer, and he told me his brother's youngest daughter, Sophie, who's only 14, has a brain tumour. Then, just to end the day, my step-father called me to say that my Mother has been admitted to hospital with another mini-stroke (TIA). She's ok, and rallying well, but 'tis a worry, nontheless.
