More people need to see the Janismania disk....we could win a bunch of converts overnight!
Not sure that I'd enjoy seeing Janis playing in stadiums, mind, but I'll bet she wouldn't complain. At least not until the entire building full wanted hugs.

seeing Janis playing in stadiums
I think the operative word here is NOT SEEING Janis in a stadium. I vowed and declared after seeing Paul Simon in a footy (football) ground that I would never be sucked in again to see - or not see - any artist playing in such a venue. B-u-u-u-t-t-t-t I was, but figured a seat costing $450 would have to be good. So I went and didn't see Barbra Striesand's FINAL concert about six years ago. She was all of two inches tall from where I was. What a rip off, and she lost me as a fan. (I bet she is upset about that).:D

I've only been to one stadium concert and that was Pink Floyd. Between the lasers, flying inflatable pigs, and other effects, it really wasn't all that bad that you could hardly see the band. Mind, the thick smoke in the arena had a decidedly calming effect after a while, too.

I've been to two very large events - Simon & Garfunkel and Joan Baez, both at the old Wembley Arena. It was good to be with so many people, but the venue doesn't give anything like the intimate atmosphere of a theatre. Joan Baez was much better at the Barbican a while ago - and even better at a very small venue in Camden Town.
Mind you, Janis is good whatever the size of the venue. I've seen her at small places such as Bush Hall and big ones like the Royal Festival Hall. The atmosphere at the latter was amazing. Janis mentions this on 'Working without a net'. She hadn't performed in London for a while, so it was fantastic to know that I wasn't alone in being a fan. The place was mobbed.
Well I've seen Jimmy Buffett a few times in large arena venues.
He puts up several large screens so that even if you are in the nosebleed seats you still see the whole stage. His concerts are really parties, so even if you can't see him up close, you definitely still get the great energy.
You see toddlers in parrot costumes and ninety year olds in grass skirts and coconut bras.

Eva,
Netflix is an internet company that allows folks to rent DVD's and have them mailed directly to your home. You can subscribe for one DVD at a time or even 3 maybe more. We subscribe for one at a time. You create a list of any movie you want to see, we signed up because we found that they had a surprisingly large number of gay and lesbian titles. Movies that we couldn't rent locally, even here in the Bay Area, and that we more than likely didn't want to actually buy to own, but were curious to see. So you create this list, and Netflix sends the first DVD, you watch it and return it, and they send the next one. The cost is $9.99 a month. Depending on how quickly you get them back, you could conceivably see ten movies a month, maybe more, the turn around time is very quick. P and I try to watch one a week, don't always succeed, but we really like having a place to keep a list of movies, since our memories are shot. Somebody sugggests a movie to us and as soon as we can we hop on line to add it to the list. I don't know if it's international, probably not yet.
