Thank you to you know who for the Janis dvds i got in the post today... I am having the most wonderful day watching them
Through the Years is an amazing compilation- the early films show how very gifted Janis was from an early age.
These 2 dvds are priceless additions to my collection,
:) :) :)

the version of Take No Prisoners on the dvd sends shivers down my spine....
These 2 dvds are priceless additions to my collection
The new DVDs are worth their weight in gold. Seeing our child prodigy in action was a real treat.
Well actually, they are worth more than their weight in gold, when you think of it.

I don't think I posted about it, but who knows. It all seems like a blur, but I was flat on my back from December 3rd for about two weeks. Pinched nerve! I watched Janis grow up with me for about ten days; over and over again. I never get tired of her work; at least I haven't yet. I do, however, try not to mention her too often around my people. Yes. it's true my friends, I am that weird uncle everyone has.

elliott and i am the weird aunt...but my 2 year old nephew knows and loves Janis...i love to give the little ones her temporary tattoos, i have permanent ones and one of them is the rude girl logo, so they think "Look aunt Noel, I'm like you" and they gleem and their parents...well, as long as i tell the kids they can't have a real one till they are 50, the parents are ok with it. to think that someday one of them may love Janis the way i do and may watch her grow before their eyes on that dvd makes my heart warm. i can never get enough of her dvds.

Mine arrived on December 23rd or thereabouts, and the Sheffield CD soon after :) The temporary tattoos are fun... :) Not sure how I'd cope with the permanent ones though...

of the 2 dvds it's now the Live in Japan/Australia that's my favourite. Janis's piano playing is magnificent and her voice so strong.
and You Are Love, a song I'd never heard till it was posted here a few months back, just blows me away every time. A magnificent song.
Agreed. I told Marcia as we were watching Janis play piano that If I had known her first as a pianist, I would not have dared speak to her...she is so magical!
...And 'they' say 'women can't play jazz'!! ...'They' don't know what they're talking about...she is magnificent!

She is ...well there isn't even a word for it... that kind of incredible on the piano, and what really made me blow a synaps (sp?) or 14 was when she had walked to the piano jammin on thee guitar and then started jammin on the dangd piano...danggggggggggggggggg.

Whenever anyone calls me a "Janis Ian groupie" I set them straight and tell them I'm a Janis Ian RUDIE...we're much more fanatical than a groupie!! The looks I get  !
Always leave 'em guessing,

Or I suppose we could be "gropies". Not sure that Janis would appreciate it, though.

I'm not sure even an honorary lesbian could get away with that, Dave!

I'm not about to try, Bat.
How about an animated film a la "Yellow Submarine" in which Rude Girl commandeers the Yellow Bus and goes off on a psychedelic campaign against Republicans? Possibly the ultimate cult film for the 21st century!

I'm not sure even an honorary lesbian could get away with that, Dave!:eek:I kind of like the iidea of my homophobic brother in law suddently wondering if his sister in law could be "one of those."

You'll just have to tell her when you see her, Hoops....I'll be hiding behind you and if it works out well, we'll both get hugs. If it doesn't....good luck.
