I went to my cousins husbands funeral today. my cousin is 40, like me, her husband was 48. they have 2 daughters that only science and a some well needed miracles helped bring to life. they are 8 and 10. too young, far too young. it was cancer, doesn't matter what kind. our adult lives kept us too busy to stay close, so i knew very little about him, had only met him ten or 12 times. Still i remember childhood and when my cousin would come to visit, i really liked her and we got on very well. i'd made contact with her a month or so ago, we talked a few times on the phone, her husband was home at the time and she was very busy...when i saw her face today, i saw the face of the child who would plan and scheme with me ways to get her parents to let her stay over night. i saw the teen with the firebird and the license plate that read BITCH1. i saw someone i love hurting deeply. recently it's come to amaze me that i have attended more funerals than weddings, christenings and anniversary parties combined. just had to say it thanks for letting me

It's so tough to lose someone you love at such a young age, Hoops. I feel for your cousin, and hope you get to know her better as time goes on. Her next year will be very lonely for her and her daughters. Condolences.

I lost many friends this past year.....

Anne: 52 - heart attack. Former co-worker who lost an enormous amount of weight after she and her husband split up.

David: 62 - drowned. Drowned during a nor'easter, trying to get his fishing boat back to shore.

Ron: 56 - explosion. Avid collector of Corvettes, explosion/fire while welding in his garage.

Bobby: 57 - car wreck. Fell asleep returning home after a wedding, flipped his car on a curve on a relatively straight, remote highway.

Kathy: 39 - peritonitis. Always said she wouldn't live to be 40 - had a belly ache for days, too stubborn to go to hospital until it was too late.

Janise: 54 - suicide. No one knows why.

Laurie: 36 - heart failure. She was born with a serious heart defect and lived every day of her life to the fullest.

I'll be attending a wedding in March, and hope there will be no more funerals for a long, long time.

This shows that even though there are obvious risks attached to hospitals they are still there to help you. Stubbornness in times of need is NOT an option .... I hope all is well otherwise, Andrea

Noel, I'm here for you and you are in my prayers daily

Hoops, it won't be quite the same thing...this time, they will protect your innards from infectious stuff while getting them in good working condition again, and they'll stitch you up nicely so you don't leak, and you'll heal up very quickly with no infections, because they'll pump you full of preventative antibiotics which won't let infection start. See? You feel better already.

Now Hoops, you planning to make an appearance at the Jan-nic in August? There just might be neighbors to mock....in fact, I'd bet on it.

davem,
if i have breath in my lungs i will be at the Jannic in august...with my best mocking voice on! if i don't i'll haunt you all by presenting every mockable situation possible...and sister rose will be able to see when she drives. but heck, i figure i'll never miss another Janis show! i mean, shoot, you could hardly call it heaven if i can't see Janis live.
