went to a local club last night to see Alix Dobkin and Nedra Johnson. it was a lot of fun, haven't seen so many lesbians...well i don;t know that i've ever seen that many lesbians over 60...it was a good show, though it did prove to me all over again, how seriously well Janis does her job...absolutely no contest. but again, we had a lot of laughs, at a little bar/resturaunt in little tiny Catskill NY called Stella's

Not familiar with the first artist you mentioned,
but Nedra Johnson is excellent!

Glad you had fun!

Alix wrote one of the absolutely classic songs; the chorus went:
If you're gonna eat crackers in bed,
you're gonna have to sleep with crumbs
I used to watch her every show in the Village!

Alix put on a classic show in a little country place outside of Greenville, S.C. that M and I went to about 20 years ago...she was great, the place was packed...of course, there aren't any lesbians in South Carolina, right? Especially not out in the country, right? yep.

Janis,
i was wearing the jacket i made and she saw it and she glowed about you, as did the promoters of the show who worked on the clearwater. I'd mention your name and i'd get a cool little story about you and how funny you are and how good you are to work with. so...when are you gonna make the trip to do a show at Stella's? or would you prefer the woodstock playhouse, or Joshua's or Ulster county performing arts center? seriously, if you want more info on any of these places lemme know... i'm your girl!

Yep, the South Carolina show was memorable. Have seen Alix many times and worked the same music festival with both she and Nedra. Even roomed in a bunkhouse with Nedra.

Those were the days......

Hey Godsistah, look up Alix' album, "Lavendar Jane Loves Women." It was the first so-called women's music album I ever bought. It was so separatist it scared me to death. I couldn't relate to it so it made me wonder whether I was really gay or not!! I wouldn't go back to the 1970's for anything!!
