Well, the Packers - Seahawks game was interesting, at least in the beginning. That was quite a comeback for Greenbay - but Seattle's defense seemed to be on vacation. I enjoyed watching the game under real weather conditions (near blizzard) instead of one of the frou-frou domed stadiums. The time is nearly here for the BIG event - Patriots v.Jaguars. It should be a good game - Jacksonville is a good team. That being said, let there be no doubt of where my loyalties lie:
GoooooOOOOOOO PATS!!!

They've come this far undefeated....would be neat to see them go all the way.
No point in cheering for the Vikings any more....we all started muttering "there's always next year" at least a month ago. It's the unofficial slogan of Minnesota sports teams.

Many of us are old enough to remember when there was only one football game televised each week, and who you got depended on where you lived. This pre-dates the AFC even. Because of that, hubby is an loyal, ardent, crazy (or is that crazed) Giants fan. I know enough to avoid the TV room when the beloved Giants are on. Let's hope for a good outcome this afternoon. Otherwise, our household will be less than peaceful for the rest of the night.

As I've said before, I'm not a football fan, but ya gotta root for the hometeam. From what I hear, we have to beat San Diego (any bets, Kathleen?) then on to beat the Pats. The Colts have been a unifying force in Indy. Anything to overshadow all the bad press of the Pacers!
What a game between the Pats and Jacksonville. I was a little nervous for my beloved Pats. It was a nail biter! And yes, Denise, it's pretty cool living close to Gillette Stadium. At the end of the game, I went outside and could hear the celebration. I was jumping up and down too!!
Looking forward to next week. The game will be here again!

Yep, the NE - Jacksonville game was a good one. I am presently enjoying the fact that the Colts are trailing the Chargers, 10 - 14. I would love to see the Colts get bumped off today. (Sorry, Karen)

Back when television came through an antenna and was free of charge, I can recall a neighbor installing an antenna rotator so he could point his TV antenna at an out of town station when an NFL game was "blacked out". Most people in the neighborhood regarded him as a fanatic, and he had a group of friends who were much the same. There was a bit of excitement one afternoon after one was taken to the hospital after he got a bit too excited and kicked in the TV.
Now that I think about it, an old antenna rotator would be a great device for bothering schizophrenic neighbors. Put a big red arrow on top of one (preferably with some sort of light on it) and when whoever it is comes out in the year, just dial away and have it follow him/her.
You're just plain evil, DaveM!
I have an old Alliance Tenna-Rotor rotting away on an antenna that I put behind the garage and have yet to trash...
out of sight, out of mind...gotta remember to do that this spring. Wonder if the Tenna-Rotor still works?

Well, I am 3 for 4 so far in my playoff picks: Greenbay, New England, San Diego, and now awaiting the results of the Giants-Cowboys game. I am pulling for the Giants.

Colts and San Diego - another great game!
Bring on San Diego!!

Some of us remember when the PATS played at Fenway! Of course, back then, there was no super bowl, and the Celtics and Bruins ruled the roost as well.

Anyone care to join me in making predictions for Sunday's playoffs? Here are mine:
New England over San Diego by 21 points;
Green Bay over New York by 17 points

I'm with ya' on the Pats, but I would say it'll be more like N.E. by 10.
As for Green Bay, that's a tough one for me as a Vikings fan, I so loathe the Pack. My gut instinct is to go with Green Bay, especially as it worked out so well for them with the Giants beating the Boys giving them home field for the NFC championship. Here's the sticker, though: I think the Giants (especially defense) are a tougher team. They don't have Favre, but Green Bay relies on it's dominant passing game to help their run game succeed. With "Ice Bowl" type weather predicted, this will be a game where all you do is run. New York will anticipate this, and I think their core running game is superior to Green Bay's. That said, I'm going on a limb and taking the Giants by 3. Believe it, you heard it here...;)

welp,. i was off the first game by 3...not the second game is going into ot at 20...guess i might be off by 1. this., of course, is an edit, i just watched the giants beat green bay by 3, i guess i was off by 4...but not a bad guess for someone who has not watched a game this season till today. so oak..., if i had to make a prediction for the super bowl... NE is gonna kick some NY tail...wait, where is th game being held? gosh i'm a baddddd NYer...don't tell my dad...he is such a HUGE NY fan that ( especially Yankees) if a ny team loses he can turn it around to be the other teams fault.

Wow!!! I'm off to Vegas for my new career handicapping football picks. Looks like I was off by 1 with N.E. (close enough). I was dead on with Green Bay vs NY Giants, but I sure didn't think that field goal difference would come in overtime after two previous misses. Still hate the Packers, but now I could care less who wins the Bowl.

Hoops, the Super Bowl will be held in Glendale, AZ near Phoenix on Feb. 3rd. I don't know why Green Bay was so off yesterday. I thought (before the game started) that they would be a shoe-in. I agree though, even though New England wasn't at their best, I expect them to be in AZ. NY will really have to be at their best to have a shot. We'll see. Now comes two weeks of super-HYPE!
Marcia :D
erm...Marcia, that's 'shoo-in'...comes from shooin' the chickens into the coop at the end of the day to keep 'em safe from the skunks and foxes...

Great job, Wildflower, but I hope you are wrong when it comes to the Superbowl. I obviously need to scratch bookie off of my list of alternative career choices.
But for the record, the Pats will beat the Giants by 9 points.

My husband will be rooting for the Giants. Everyone else in the family will root for the Pats. I'm rooting for a first quarter blow out either way, just to quiet the house down as quickly as possible

Well, Ace
I do not think it will be a 1st quarter blowout - although it seems that a few years back there was a run of really lopsided Superbowls - that takes a lot of fun out of it - especially if your team is on the losing end.
I have enough respect for the Giants to think that they will keep it fairly close - for a while - but the Pats will put them away in the 4th quarter.

Though I cannot bring myself to root for the Patriots, I predict the Patriots down by 12 at the half, and winning by 7
