At first I thought she was playing with the press......now I just think it is a human tragedy.....
How sad this all has turned into, I feel much sadness in my heart for all involved, mostly Britney.

Dr Phil McGraw said he was convinced she was "in dire need of both medical and psychological intervention".

Dang, I can think of a great roommate for her....
The truly sad thing is that at least some of the blame here must be placed with at least some members of her inner circle, who have watched her disintegrate and quite possibly provided the "substances" which have contributed much to the situation. In all likelihood, none will ever be called to account. And sooner or later, Ms. Spears will turn up dead of an overdose, which her handlers will use as a means of deifying her and making still more money from the remains of a ruined life.

It was pretty obvious a long time ago that this was the case-and it doesn't take an "expert" like Dr. Phil to figure it out.

i'm with roady, we've all known for some time that she is in dire need of help...what i don;t understand is why Dr Phil didn't do someething about getting this help by keeping her in the hospital or at very least taking her to a good psych hospital and admiting her...or does he not have that kind of power. she needs to stay IN a hospital for a while. why does no one see that. I feel bad for Britney, she is still a child and no one is standing up for her, in defense of her life. all those around her just seem to be making money off of her hard times, her ups and downs. i pray for her

i really have no pity or sympathy towards her.
many mothers go through this, why should she be so fucking special?
her music is AWFUL. i saw her in toronto in 2003. i got more kicks out of the kids dancing to her songs than to see her lipsync to her crap music.

i bet Janis can share a story or two about the challenges of being a child star. I wonder if there was a little luck in Janis coming out and making it to where she is now without getting lost all stardom. Put all this in a childs hand and it's a recipe for disaster, and it's obvious she had little parental help. Britney never had a chance to develope into adulthood emotionally, she is a child expected to live by adult rules. I'm not saying she deserves none of it, she has made bad choices, she needs to own up to that and pay for each mistake justly, she also needs the opportunity and assistance to grow emotionally into adulthood. it's gonna be a long hard road for her, years of therapy, it will be a short end, if she doesn't get real help.

I see this as a problem with "created celebrities" that is likely to show up more and more if the trend continues. Someone who can dance reasonably well and lip-synch to a forgettable pop tune, leading to an award on some TV show, is not a performing artist. That person has spent no time honing and perfecting their craft, learned the realities of performing in front of audiences large and small, the challenges of touring and recording and dealing with the sharks out there.
In short, we have a group of people who have never really grown up but are expected not only to do so, but to cope with a world few are truly prepared to take on. There will be more casualties, mark my words.
Meanwhile, the entire "American Idol " thing really belongs on history's trash heap.

It is not about her music anymore.
I think it is right that she is still a child and what makes her different now is that she is a child in need for help, most likely abondent child in need. She is crying out for help, the signs are all there for the world to see and nobody seems to notice or everybody notice but are more concern to “milk” the golden goose before she stops laing eggs.
There was a speculation that Dr Phil was going to do a whole show just about Britney, seems he is somesort af a friend of the family, don´t kn ow if that i the case. Iit was also mentioned in the same story that Britney might be in that show, but for sure Britneys mother was to be there.....she allready had negotiated a very handsome sum of money for anticipating in that show.......(A sickening thought.....going public like this, makes you wonder what is the meaning of the word “Family-friend” means.)
This does make you think of young Janis doesn´t it and how she survived childhood stardom? She took her guitar and was a performing artist at the age of 15.....you all did pay attention when you read the age of 15......Look at where she is now, she must have some tale to tell.....and I bet you, Pearl, her mother was much more supportive and of course Janis, from what I gather, was a very mature, for the lack of a better word, but still a child. But you also have to notice that some of her lyrics from The Verve Years can be interpretated and are infact dealing with relathionship of parent child relationship, are they not?
But I feel much pain for Britney, something has gone terribly wrong and the amount of eamty pill and drug traces found at her home indicate only one thing.........she has, knowingly or unknowingly, taken to suicidal behaviour.
