This fellow appears to have "borrowed" many of his ideas. From "The Da Vinci Code" of course, but also from Kit William's c. 1984 book "Masquerade", which included clues that led to a real-life treasure. The "connect the dots" technique this fellow applies to the Mona Lisa is identical to that which revealed the hidden message in Williams' illustrations.

There was a bit of a fad for "treasure hunt books" during the 1980s--I believe there is at least one web page dedicated to them. In some cases, no one has yet claimed the treasures, so there could be a chance for you, Gisli!
