I guess whoever won it at the big auction Janis held in 98 wants to sell it. I remember it went for more than the Platinum Disc which I won. But I can't remember now how much that was! Maybe around 1500 US Dollars?

Well, I don´t know if somebody actually bought it......but it was for sale somewhere in the neighbourhood of 100$....but now I know a bit more about the story of this item, thanks Anna...auctioned in 98.

....and of course if somebody bought it it is in the neighbourhood of Kathleen Brogan

It would seem this copy was originally presented to someone named Steve Ostrow, "In grateful recognition for your contribution towards sales in excess of 500,000 copies." I did a google for Steve Ostrow and came up with someone who's supposed to be an actor, producer and celebrity impersonator.

Yes it is....surely Kathleen Brogan has that one.

Of course in the auction Anna won the Platinium and Kathleen won the Gold. And if only the artist and the producer get Gold, then this must be a fake of somekind, either the descriptive panel or the record or both......

Maybe this Steve Ostrow just bought the producers copy for one of his impersonatioin and then sold it?????????? Or just sprayed gold colour over a vinyl record.


PS Gold got record hights yesterday on the markets, if I remember right the ounce was sold for over 850......if all gold, would a record of this size be in the neighbourhood of an ounce???

These days any number can be produced, not just for the artist and producer. Steve Ostrow was the owner of Continental Baths in Manhattan. The club he ran was one of the places that Bette Midler got her start. I don't think it's the same guy who now does impressions.

These days it's perfectly ordinary to see Gold and Platinum records on the walls of Lawyers, Accountants, booking agents, etc. I don't know if it was different back when that one was made, but I think not.
