How was the Birmingham show?!

Agnes, the Birmingham show was fabulous- simply the best Janis show I have seen. The venue was great- picture club cafe with smaller stage and you have it to a tee. I met the lovely Dutchcloggie and her partner (who referred to herself as "Mrs Cloggie"!), and Chris h and Lisa from the LRC.

Janis's voice was amazing- those of you who remember the Brighton show where she belted the words out with so much passion- this was like that. The audience was very warm and receptive, and Janis was very relaxed. My friend Sue was suitably impressed...

After the show Janis looked at me and asked "David, how many shows ARE you attending!?":p Unfortunately this has to be the last one as I have no more money:( but I shall be heading over to the Netherlands in October- yay!

I have had a fabulous month. The last twelve months have been the most difficult in my life, but all these Janis shows combined with the fun and friendship of rudies leave me with a warm glow in my heart.

love and hugs to Janis, Anne, Rowy, Marjan, Agnes, Pete CC, Eva, Anna from Dublin, Chet and anyone else I haven't mentioned....

Indeed, it was a lovely show. Nice to meet David 'in the flesh'. Mrs. Cloggie was very impressed with the show indeed. Great to see Janis again after so many years (I think the last time was in Sydney, over 5 years ago, or am I missing a show now......?) I think I still made a fool of myself when she signed my poster (Why am I so shy......??) She asked me who to sign it to and instead of saying Marieke, M.A.R.I.E.K.E, I said: oh, just your name, my name is too difficult to spell....

ARRGGGGGGHHH.

Oh well, more luck next time.....

Anyway, Great show, great fun and, with Mrs Cloggie having FITNB signed to her, a new Janis-recruit.

How was the Rugby match?

The rugby match was good. We played 3 matches of 20 minutes. Instead of the normal 15 a side, we played a 10 a side. But on a full-sized pitch!! Hence only playing short matches. Played 3, lost 1, won 2. Unfortunately, I was not the only one who had appointments later in the afternoon so we had to pull out of the semi finales as half the team had to leave!! Nobody expected to even get to the semi-finals. Another 10s tournament next week. But again I will need to leave early as I have to play in Leicester with my own band.....

My knees are scratched and bruised. Stings like hell.

Sorry, this belongs in the coffee bar!!!

Yep. But she does not really deal well with ballads. She was a bit dissapointed, if you can use that word, that Janis did not play a few more slightly upbeat tunes that would show off her fabulous guitar-techniques. I did feel there were a lot of ballads there and I was waiting for This Train, Take no prisoners or God & the FBI, thast kind of thing. But hey, as far as I'm concerned, it was all fabulous because I don't have a problem with balleds at all!!! I loved it. and mrs. cloggie said she would definately go to a janis show again. Not bad for someone who said she did not like my music with "all those wailing women" only a month or so ago!

Glad you had such a good time David.

Don't worry, I'm sure she knows you're not a stalker - just a rabid fan, like so many others. It happens ... all the time. :)

Well, at least you weren't "forced" :p by some crazy fans (= Manchester & DavidUK) to appear before her in a half piratehat! Janis looked at me and judging on the look on her face, I'm sure she was thinking "nutfile... nutfile..."

Dee...

What an interesting point... Like David I don't think of us as stalkers but rabid fans... Just foaming a bit at the mouth and growling a lot.... Still in our case I see it like this.... Janis has become to us an excuse to travel a bit to places we would not have otherwise gone to... I.e, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Chicago, Cedarburg and Greenlake Wisconsin.... Now the concert in the Pocono's we would have gone to in any case.... Like our trip to Pittsburgh what better excuse to go someplace and do the sightseeing... We don't JUST go for the concert but also to sightsee and enjoy the various places...and meeting new people is always fun as well....I mean even the Pittsburgh "18", as strange as we were as a mob I have seldom enjoyed such a gaggle of (odd but wonderful) people... (especially the antics of that darn Irish Beth).

Janis, thank you for providing destinations and motivation to travel for us... Oh and the concerts are great also;)

That said.... Our very best wishes to you all

ROFLOL!!! Funny!
hehehe. Well, then Mrs. Cloggie said: Go on, just say your name. And I was like: No, don't worry about it. And Janis said: Are you sure? And I felt totally stupid because I did actually quite want her to sign it to me but felt embarassed to ask! So Janis signed it and I said to Mrs. Cloggie: See, now I can give this as a present to my next girlfriend.

To which Janis looked up and said: I am not getting involved in that one ladies! Thanks for coming.

Hence I felt a smidge silly.
