My brother loved them when we were kids. I confess to more than a passing interest :)

My son Tony had an LP with Robert Plant...he sang a song where he whined, "Hey, Mama...." ...that's all I remember of it, but thought it was fun to listen to. Anybody remember what I'm talking about? Was he with Led Zepplin then?

apparently the London show last night was a huge success with fans and critics alike, and they are thinking of a major tour next year.

I hope they tour next year, the only obstacle for that to happen, they say, is Robert "The Hey Mama Whiner" Plant........ who has a successful solo career........but it would be a bit selfish not to tour since there are millions of fans eager to see them live for a wooping 135 pounds the equevelent of 280 us dollars.
Ps Cardiffgal, your son has some good taste for music, are you going to take him to see LZ if they go on tour?

I think the sheer number of people young and old who want to see this happen is a positive sign that people out there are still thirsty for "the rock."
Where has is been the last 15+ years? Especially now in these shi**y times. Didn't it used to be a thunderous voice of disgust? There is still hope.

I could never really "get" Led Zepplin when I was younger. Everyone around me seemed to be mad about them. I was more into Pink Floyd.
As I'm now in my mid 30s I seem to get them more especially since I started to listen to a lot of blues music.
I love the CD that Robert Plant recently recorded with Alison Kraus and it is without doubt one of my favourite releases this year.

Although I've always been a fan and recognize their brilliance, I've been burned out on Zeppelin for a long time due to the ridiculous overexposure on FM radio for way too long now. Thankfully, with the Ipod and many other musical advances, I haven't been listening to the radio in ages. I'm actually OK with listening to classic rock again, because I don't hear it everyday. This coupled with the fact that I watched the recent Zeppelin reunion on YouTube gave me goosebumps. I remembered what rock can be, and what it isn't now. I heard the other day that the newest adult generation's lack of musical taste has a lot to do with their upbringing playing video games and spending too much time on the PC/Mac. Music is now merely background noise to them, so the more disposable the better. Sometimes I think a little loss of technology may be the only thing to save real music.
