Hey all. I've just noticed a strange phenomenon on my favorite message boards concerning the username/password boxes used to log in. Periodically, I delete all cookies, and have to re-enter this info at my favorite sites. On all these sites, as soon as the home page is fully opened, the background in these boxes changes from clear to a sort of orange/peach color. I know it's strange, but i'm positive that it was never like this before, and i've done nothing recently to change color themes on my PC or IE7. I'm wondering if
IE7's recent updates performed this, or if it's a potential spyware/trojan/etc. issue. I run excellent firewall/antivirus/spyware systems and am quite vigilant. But, it just seems that these boxes may be remotely observed to capture passwords or something. Any help/info would be appreciated. Thanks.:)

Whenever similar things have happened to me it's been memory problems. Some program has been or has hogged a lot of the memory required for displaying the normal colors. Seeing as how I often work with "less capable" machines and "less capable" operating systems though (pre-XP) that's probably not the problem - but it could be. I'm thinking perhaps erroneously that it might be a trojan and you might want to go check out some of the freebie online trojan scans available around the net. It could also be just a byproduct of your last update. In any case you might want to go get one of those freebie scans to check things out. Here's a couple for you to try.

Thanks, Paularoid, I'll check it out. On a related note, I've been occasionally getting pop-ups the last few days supposedly from Internet Explorer 7 stating that "a current script running is slowing down internet explorer and may make your computer unresponsive, do you want to stop running it?" Have you ever seen this? Thanks.

Yes! I see that -all- the time when and usually it's of no real consequence because I'm using Firefox. Firefox is a real memory hog and when presented with a page that's got all kinds of different code on it for whatever reason (like fancy java etc.) I get that. A way to get around that type of thing a lot of the time is to turn off things like scripts, java, graphics loading, animated graphics, etc. etc. etc. The problem with doing that is that much of the content will become unusable or invisible. It's like being caught between a rock and a hard place. You block all that garbage out and regain your surfing speed but you render many pages unusable. You enable it and your usability returns but so does the bloat.
I usually let the script run if I'm in the middle of some desired task that relies on the activity. If it's not important then I stop it and move on.
