It should be noted that I am the photographer. <head swelling> I took that last year out the window where my computer sits. Sometimes I do pretty good work. Taken out a dirty window and through a wire mesh screen I think it came out pretty well if I do say so myself.
Well did a good job. Very nice.

Maybe because it was animals....?

The person that posted it is an animal. I just forgot that I'm a HUMAN animal and that's why it got posted there in the zoo. I forgot that sometimes I have to let myself out of my cage and experience life amongst the calmer populace. Thanks for reminding me Janis. I 'ppreciate it.

Well those are from last year because until today there hasn't been much if any snow and consequently no deer either. That picture is one of the same ones I posted here last year and I just revived it.
Hi Darlene, wanted to PM you, but there was no space left for me!

Well..... I guess I did it there (in "The Zoo") because here in the main forum I feel somewhat out of my element maybe? I'm too used to rolling around in the mud. This is one of the "clean" areas and I haven't been "clean" so to speak in a very long time. :p And yes, I'm proud of it. Proud enough of it to come in here after a while and respond just to bump it right back up to the top so it doesn't disappear into the festive ether of the season.

There's a whole slug more of that kind of thing at Webshots. I've got five galleries there. The link is:

They're not all great and there are some that aren't even good I'm sure but there's a slug of 'em there. The picture featured here is there sans holiday greeting.

Au Contraire, Hoops, some slugs are beautiful...the Banana slugs of the northern CA coast are big, bright yellow, and very pretty...one just has to adjust one's way of thinking, and perceptions of beauty. Not that I would want one sliming my person, but they are fun to watch. I love yellow, so that helps a lot.

Geez....three pages into a happy holidays thread and we're talking about slugs. No food in sight. What's happened to you people?

Well Dave, they are FOOD to some people. I know the aborigines eat wichetty GRUBS, and believe it or not, so have I. Not that I would make them a staple diet. They taste like walnuts. I was cleaning up around the yard a couple of days ago, shifting planks of wood, and put my hand on a huge yellow slug. I should've put it in a little home, and sent it to you Bat.:D It was about 3" long by 3/4" round. - ooohh yuk.

I've heard of witchetty grubs. A friend who visited Australia was going to try them but, after watching them being "harvested", declined.
Semi-good picture at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Witchetty_grub.
And thank you, Wendy, for not saying that they taste like chicken.

Oh, a little one! Banana slugs grow to about 6" in good conditions. They seem to love Hydrangea bushes in the Pacific Northwest.
...but, as I said, I don't really relish them except to look at. Grabbing one would be quite a shock, I should think. Brrrrrr.

And just how did a message expressing "Happy Holidays to all" get turned into a message about SLUGS!?!?
Only the rudies...... <shaking head in exasperation - with a chuckle :p >

They may be quiet, largely inconspicuous, and noted for minding their own business, but to some folks, they're FOOD!
Plenty of good reason for a festival as far as I can see.
