I just joined last week and have forgotten my manners. So, hello.
My 2 snakes, 2 cats and most wonderful wife all say hello.
I have a wide variety of interests from cuttlefish chromataphores to smacking coconuts together in search of Holy Grails. Have'nt found any, by the way.
I don't follow any religious dogma. Instead,I explore several spiritualities, all of which have a commonality. It's like ice-cream; 31 flavors, but they are all still ice-cream. So far, what I have found that works best is to make a connection with all that is around us, see through the eyes of others no matter the form. Dont exclude anything if you really want to know yourself and the rest of what exists.
OK, enough about that.
This website seems like a good place to meet interesting people as opposed to someone belching beer in my face at the local bar, which I dont go to except for special occasions, like to see Janis Ian.
Nuff about me.

Oooh! I got to her first! Do I get a chomp?
Sorry... bad joke. They keep saying I'm a vicious, leg-eating, hairdo-chomping dragon. Might as well prove them right.
Welcome to the message board! I'm not so good about snakes, I like them if I'm not the one who picks them up (though I don't mind them wrapped around my wrist, I just don't like agitating them). Bearded dragons are more my style, and cats even more so. Now fantasy dragons... that's a whole different genre.
I see you've found our friendly den here. My greetings extended. Even I might go to a bar to see Janis Ian! A little hard to get in, though. Especially to a spot I can see from.

Welcome to the Janis Ian messageboard. In wich country do you live Snakegirl? There are people on this messageboard from all over the world. I am from the Netherlands. And there are even people here from the US. Go figure... ;)
It's always nice to meet new fans. You must like Janis and her music a lot that you are even prepared to see / hear her in places where people belch beer in your face. Here, we usually don't belch at eachother. Well, maybe after a big plate of the good food we always talk about here. Usually that is Redjack's fault.
Have a good time here!

Thanks for the welcome. I woke up this morning with bite marks...Songdragon?...
Yeah, bearded lizards are cool too. Actually, all creatures are cool.If I had enough time, money and space, our home would be a zoo.
Eva, my "ya'll drawl" is a clue I am from the south in the U.S., Louisville,Kentucky to be exact. It's not the most enlightened spot on the planet, but there are a few interesting people and happenings. Lots of wildlife,( we share our house with a possum who lives under the porch)especially when you get out of the city. There are places, not far, where you can hear only the sounds of birds, falling leaves and unseen creatures skuttling across rock. You can gather fresh medicinals in a proper way, unspoiled by pollutants.
And I can smooch my sweetie in broad daylight without worry. Like I said, Kentucky is not the most enlightened place.
Wow,GodSistah, you picked up a rattlesnake? Brave girl. Please, tell me more.
Good to get to know ya'll, sheri

I'm not sure about that, Eva... I think I just got bit by one too many garden snakes as a child (well, I was antagonizing them).
I swear, it wasn't me snakegrl (unless you change that name to snackgrl) because I was fast asleep and innocent of such devious intentions!
A fresh new wave of Rudies! How refreshing.

Louisville, Kentucky - it sounds beautiful. Almost as beautiful as New Zealand....! I have a good buddy who lives in Oklahoma - I sure do love that southern drawl.....bless all your hearts!

Nice to meet ya'll right back KiwiSoupGirl. Thanks for your poetry critque.
New Zealand looks like the kind of place that you wouldn't care if you got lost in it. Such varied geography and all of it gorgeous.
Look forward to chatting with you... I mean with ya'll. Snakegrl
Darn, that would have been a good screen name for me, much for fun and descriptive than my real name. Oh well.
Snakegirl, what sort of snakes do you have?
I have a eleven year old female red corn snake named Garnet. We got her when she was smaller than a pencil, and she is now over five feet long and about as wide around as a quarter.
Welcome to the board!!

Hey, another snake lover! I have a corn snake too, albino, named Morrica. Not sure if it's male or female yet, as this one is not yet a year old. Yeah, as big as a pencil is a good description for when I got this one. A very sweet snake and seems curious, smart and wants to go,go,go... Can't wait till she gets bigger so I can drape her around my neck and not worry about her getting lost in my hair. The other one, Cathares, here only a month, is a Dumeril's Boa. They have a very good disposition, similar to Common Boas, however they are a ground boa and just a bit more shy. This one is only about 2 and a half feet and will get around 6-7 feet. And talk about sweet natured... she sometimes lays her face on my cheek, hangs her cute little head over my ear and tickles my nose. What more could you want?
These are the first reptiles I've lived with and it has been a great experience.
Snakes are wonderful teachers for trust(they can't catch their fall) ,flow of movement and paying attention to subtle energy.
I could go on and on, so, I'll stop now. Another snake person, cool.

First off, Welcome to the messageboard Snakegrl. Secondly, whatever these ingrates have said about dear Cap'n Redjack is hogwash.. Its not my fault and i'm innocent of anything i've been accused of now and in the future.
Don't let that dragon lull you into a false sense of security, I seen her bite Irish Beth's leg clean off! And she had the nerve to ask for seconds!
Any belching being done around here is likely Randy from Pa's fault, the lout has the manners of a barbarian. He's also got a thing for parrots, likes em deep fried in canola oil. Never leave your parrot in his care!
We're harmless (mostly) as long as we remember to take our meds, if you arent crazy now.. you will be in short order.
So sit yerself down and put yer feet up.. make yourself comfy and welcome to the nuthouse!

the other dragon on the JIMB
I thought the time to determine the gender was when they were very young and don't have the control to hold their 'parts' (if they have them) inside. When we got our snake, the shop had about two dozen hatchlings. The guy pulled them out one by one, pressed on their backs behind their 'opening' and if their little thingy (technical term ;) ) popped out, then they were not girls. Then we picked the girl with the prettiest markings. I'll post a picture on of these days. Garnet is very curious and gentle. Loves to explore and especially seems to like to crawl on my skin because it's usually warm. I remember the days of her traveling through my hair and wearing her like a bracelet, then as a belt.
Have you read the book 'Dreamsnake' by Vonda McIntyre? That was what gave my partner the idea that a snake would be a good pet. I wasn't thrilled with the idea, but I was won over. No she won't greet me at the door or fetch when I throw things, but she is a living creature who responds to us and seems to enjoy being with us, and she doesn't leave hair everywhere or adversely effect my breathing. Plus the neighborhood kids think we're cool. ;)

Haven't heard of that trick yet But I am no expert. I'm going by what my vet and a couple of others said to do- use a probe when they are bigger. But hey, another tool for the box.
I'd love to see pics of your baby. I will post some of mine as soon as I coaxe my sweetie into doing that for me. I know diddle about computer hoo-doo, just enough to get me around.
I've not heard of that book but will certainly put it on the list.
Dragonlady, it would be interesting to see what happens if you took homeopathic lachesis a week before reading that book again and continued with the remedy till both were finished.
I was told of a woman, severly allergic to cats, attending a holistic weekend workshop, who left the door to her room ajar. A cat who lived on the grounds, got in and slept on her pillow, unbeknownst to the woman. Some one caught the cat doing this the next day. The woman had no allergic reaction to that cat or any others afterwards.
I am NOT diagnosing, nor prescribing anything.
Just curious if the homeopathic principle will work in a non physical way in situations of fear, even though the remedy was intended for the physical level. Oh, lachesis is Latin for bushmaster, a snake.
thanks again for the welcome, yall. I will remember to make myself at home and keep my parrots to myself.
