View Full Version : Dee reads "Four Nights Before Christmas"
Well it''s that time of year again. Christmas is one month away and the amazing annual holiday sale begins next weekend. Just put up my little tree and put on some holiday tunes to try to get me in the spirit.

Well done! a stoned Santa!
I figure it's got to be that, Kath – a workshop in the Arctic full of elves and a herd of flying reindeer? :o

If there are going to be 12 of anyone, surely it should be Kathleen Brogan.
Kathleen is a drummer? The things you learn in a day! ;)

NUT FILES ROASTING ON AN OPEN FIRE
based on The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)
by Mel Tormé and Bob Wells (1944)
Nut files roasting on an open fire
Jackie skates across the road
Billie’s Bones being sung by a choir
While Jenny’s stealing Janis clothes
Everybody knows
A turkey has some missile toes
And they sure know how to fight
Every bot, every spammer and Troll
Will find it hard to sleep tonight
They know the BIG SALE’s on its way
and there are lots of bargains to be had that day
But every mama’s boy is gonna cry
When they discover reindeer don’t know how to fly
Oy!
And so
I’m offering this complex phrase
To every Rudie and to you
Although it has never been said quite this way
Merry politically-correct-holiday-festive-season-greetings
to you

Have a still-oozing wound from yesterday's battle with the turkey, so thanks, Rudies. The vegetarians should be assured that the turkey won. Man, have they got some moves!

Dee, AWESOME! HOW DO YOU COME UP WITH THIS S**T? MAN I'TS GREAT!
But I agree with Dave, 12 Marcias would put Bat in the hospital for sure.:p
She can make more sounds come out of a little drum, than people can with full sets. And I'm not kidding!
If you two need anymore info on turkeys, be sure to ask Leslie.
I think BROGAN could possibly sit on a piano and BLOW......(PIPES)
That is, if she could take the rose out of her mouth. ;)

When one speaks the name of Brogan one must bow one's head and speak in a reverent hush. We Maniacs know....the rest (apart from Dee, who has been initiated many times over) will simply have to learn.
Lest we forget, there is a growing Sacred Shrine of Kath Of The Guitar. Those who have heard her play know why.

To be honest, I have no idea Kath, except I seem to often be rewriting songs in my head. The “Twelve Days of Rudies” one did take a bit more work tho. Do you know how hard it is to fit a three-syllable name into that one?

Dave, those who have seen the Janismania DVD know EXACTLY why..... :D
I could listen to Marcia drumming all day...12 of her might be a bit much, but we could cut it down to an hour...that would work!
Love your stuff, Dee! Funny, cute, witty...all that good stuff! Keep it coming!
I'm really looking forward to the Jannic next year (Jan-e-que?), simply for the musicians that will show up and play us through our fabulous food...a great supper club has nothing on us! We have it all!

Apart from bringing way too much crap to be autographed, I'd like to think I kept a pretty low profile for most of Janismania--or did I imagine that? I am wondering if it would be safer to arrive at the picnic in disguise. I have this sneaking suspicion that if I was not in the Nut File then....I may be now....

Protest silences Silver Bells (http://www.canada.com/ottawacitizen/news/story.html?id=f93ce6dd-db51-4dbb-b999-9c0527607869&k=84262)
In the end, Silver Bells gave way to Frosty the Snowman as Elmdale Public School yesterday dropped the carol from its Christmas concert lineup following a national controversy when teachers attempted to omit the word "Christmas" from the song.
The afternoon concert with Grade 2 and 3 pupils - which was closed to the media - apparently went off without a hitch. Parents leaving the school all said the concert was "wonderful" and "lovely," but no one wanted to go on the record about the controversy.
School officials were understandably tense yesterday after police received a call from someone saying there was a bomb at the school. Police investigated, but did not find anything on the premises, said a police spokesman.
The Christmas carol controversy began earlier this week when teachers who lead the school choir decided to drop the word Christmas from Silver Bells and replaced it with "festive" to eliminate a reference to the Christian holiday. The move caused a national furore, and school officials and the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board scrambled to control the situation.
But after days in the spotlight, a decision was made by the choir to change songs in the musical program, said board spokeswoman Sharlene Hunter.
"The teachers are visibly and emotionally upset and don't feel they can conduct that song to the best of their ability," Ms. Hunter said yesterday before the concert.
The school had also received numerous phone calls from the public that voiced some very strong opinions about the Christmas carol controversy.
"The messages left on the voice mail (at the school) were not pleasant," said Ms. Hunter, adding that other websites with similar unpleasant comments had resulted in a "negative impact on the entire school community."
The school's answering machine was filled to capacity yesterday morning with the messages, she added.

Fascinating isn't it that people who have a problem with the word Christmas would be in charge of conducting a Christmas concert. Does that even make sense? The poor kids must be wondering what in the world is going on.
To those wonked out messed up teachers I can only say this (http://badaboo.free.fr/merryxmas.swf)!

Hadn't seen that Lucille, but it's worth repeating if only for the 300 mentions of CHRISTMAS the song contains. ;)

Have a very merry Christmas. That is an order!
I was once in charge of hiring an orchestra for a performance of "The Living Christmas Tree", put on by a fundamentalist group who did it ever year to sold out houses. I got a bunch of fine musicians together who enjoyed playing it, usually coming back every year at my beck and call.
They were 90% Jewish and 40% gay, and some of the best musicians I ever heard! Needless, to say, I had the job for at least 4 years that I can recall, and I doubt that the audience knew that they had a bunch of non Christians and/or Heathens in the pit. We didn't tell them.
