This should probably be on the Geek page, but why is it that I can never get continuous streaming on most UTube movies? They always go for about 2 seconds, then stop for a long time, then a couple more seconds of play, etc.

I would love to fix it if I could...

My solution is to that is to stop the clip and let the progress bar at the bottom fill completely to the right side, then hit play.

Works great.

yep, leave it some time to buffer and then it'll work fine.

Thanks all...I played the Paul Potts videos, and they went straight through without a hitch from the very beginning. I have tried letting the bar fill with others, though, and if I stop the video, nothing happens, no bar-fill, nada.
Strange. Other times that works. Just don't get it, but won't let it bother me. Thanks again.

Hi Bat. Here is me giving computer advice when "I know nussing"! I never stop the clip, I just let it run through to the end and it comes up "Play Again" at which time it runs through seamlessly.

Of course, sometimes that takes a many minutes, so then you get up and have a drink of something. I usually have a bloody mary 'cos it takes some time to add the mix. Obviously I can't watch too many clips in one sitting. :D

Hi Paul. Many moons ago when the JIMB was in it's second coming - well the set up before this one, I sent in a newspaper article written by Attenborough similar to this, but much more detailed.

Off the topic, but do you remember when John said he was changing the board set up? We all panicked, (some of us anyway) and thought we would never be able to drive it.

Since ever'body is having so many problems do it this way just like -I- did.

Go to Zamzar and have them convert it to a playable format for you (I suggest mpg because it plays on just about anything). After they're through converting it they'll send you an email with a link in it that will let you download the clip right to your system. The link to go to is:

http://www.zamzar.com/url/

-I- chose the mp4 format because it's typically smaller than mpg but not everyone has the ability to play that format, so I suggest the mpg format.

The link to plug in there at the Zamzar page is:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6Y-5CR-_hw

Download the thing and watch it at your leisure.

Again, go to this link:
http://www.zamzar.com/url/

and plug in this link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6Y-5CR-_hw

Pick your desired format. Give them your email address. Let the thing upload to them. Wait for your email containing a download link. Download it. Play it.

Thanks Paul

But now I will have to find another excuse to make a bloody mary. :D

:D I think you might be surprised by how fast they work. MANY times I've plugged in the url, let it upload, and then immediately checked my mail to find that it was already done and waiting for me. It's not that way -all- the time but they're pretty speedy about it.

And now we've worked out that this thread actually needs to be on Geek-o-rama, what about the actual video itself?????

David makes many valid points here and it's up to us to work out which of these we can discount and which we should take notice of.... :D He touches on the Creation, but that the Creation itself is not an accurate way of describing how the world around us was made, and is indeed extremely inaccurate

What I'm about to express are -my- thoughts and ideas and mine alone. I didn't get them from anywhere other than in my own head. Nobody put the idea(s) in my head but me.

Is there some reason that -both- creationist theories and evolutionist theories cannot exist side by side and hand in hand? WHO decided that when the bible tells about the world being created in seven "days" that this meant that each day only consisted of one period of twenty four hours? Why couldn't a day be what we consider an "age" as in the age of dinosaurs or some such and animal life evolved or was born/created (by the hand of "god") in that day (that might be our equivalent of millions of years)?

I've got a LOT more to discuss about this and similar types of things but won't go into it yet for the sake of brevity and time. My ideas of "god" are similar and I'll go into that in the future.

Every holy book or collection of creation lore tells of a deity or deities that created the earth. Not one, to my knowledge, specifies how S/He did it.

In the case of the Genesis creation story, it's difficult to believe that the universe was made in seven 24 hour days--after all, it was not until the third day that the sun was made and the means therefore by which we determine the passage of a "day" brought into existence. Besides which, God did not sit down and write a book about his project, nor did he hire a stringer to watch over his shoulder and take notes.

We are. To me that is enough, and remarkable in and of itself. I have no quarrel with anyone who wishes to speculate about or maintain a belief as to how the universe came into being as well as into its present form. I have every quarrel with anyone who says that I must believe such things happened in a particular way because s/he has an old book or collection of oral teachings which say so.

Spiriturality, it seems to me, springs from contemplating the universe and wondering: "could it be....?" Religion, all too often, consists of frowning at the world and thundering: "THOU SHALT NOT!"

Guess which one I prefer?

I -strongly- urge anyone and everyone to go watch the movie Zeitgeist. Lucille first and then I alluded to this movie before here on this system. It answers a LOT of questions and/or brings forth a lot more. The site is:

Zeitgeist - The Movie, 2007
http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/

For those that are enterprising, you -can- download the thing and burn it to CD or DVD for viewing at your leisure on a television as I have done. It takes a while to get it but it's well worth the time expended. It took me about an hour but I'm glad I did it. The thing is about an hour long if I remember correctly.

While you're there, explore the -whole- site to get some of the references, credits, and sources just so you can check on the authenticity of the information.

I'm leaving this one out due to lack of time today. I'll look again at it on Thursday.
