Rest in peace, George.

I have to admit I was a serious Osmonds fan as a teenager. Unlike most though, I had no interest in Donny. Merrill was the one who pushed my buttons. They are an amazing family. I always admired how they persisted in having children after their 1st two children were born deaf. I think most people would have given up and taken the "safe" option and how much poorer the world would have been had that happened. May he rest in peace with Olive by his side.

Osmond family unites on Winfrey's show (http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20071109/osmond_Winfrey_071109/20071109?hub=Entertainment)
Fri. Nov. 9 2007
CHICAGO (AP) - Despite the death of their patriarch, more than 100 members of George Osmond's family filmed an episode of "The Oprah Winfrey Show" [which airs today] because they thought he would have wanted it that way.
"We talked about it and my father would want us all to be here," Marie Osmond told Winfrey on the show, scheduled to be broadcast Friday. "He loved his family."
George Osmond planned to travel to Chicago to tape the show before he died Tuesday at age 90 at his home in Provo, Utah, Marie Osmond told Winfrey in a transcript provided by Harpo Productions.
George Osmond had nine children, 55 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren. His wife, Olive, died in 2004.
"Isn't it interesting how two people can raise a family in show business -- nine children -- and we still love each other," son Donny Osmond told Winfrey.

I'm recording Oprah today. I was a big Osmonds fan back in the day. Sorry to hear that father Osmond passed. It should be a great show and tribute to George as well.

I was a fan in my early teens, largely because I fancied Donny lol He does a lot of tv work over here now (presenting etc) and I find him rather asexual, and squeaky clean, which is what turned me off the most about that awful Donny and Marie tv series.
They did make some great records tho in their heyday, and influenced many boybands to come.
R.I.P. Mr Osmond
Donny Osmond has also grown into a substantial singing voice. I was amazed to find out that it was he who was the voice of Joseph in the Canadian cast of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Review (http://www.answers.com/topic/joseph-his-amazing-technicolor-dreamcoat-musical)
"In the summer of 1967, Alan Doggett, head of the Music Department at St. Paul's Junior School, made a humble request of one of his pupil's elder brothers: to write a "pop cantata" for the school choir to sing at their annual Easter concert. The student was Julian Webber, and the short Biblical vignette that his brother--Andrew Lloyd--wrote to fulfill the request eventually grew into a full-length "rock opera" that during the next three decades would enjoy lengthy runs across the Atlantic on Broadway (including a stint as Joseph by Donny, the favored younger Osmond brother), be captured on no less than twelve cast albums, performed in at least thirteen different countries, and seen by an estimated audience (including the thousands of regional and school productions) of eight million people."
You can hear him in some of the songs here (http://www.amazon.com/Joseph-Amazing-Technicolor-Dreamcoat-Canadian/dp/B000001E0A).

I liked the Osmonds a BIT when I was in my teens. I think Donny has matured since then and is easier to like now. We see him alot on GMTV these days. I wonder why we never hear from Jimmy Osmond..... :p

My favorite one was Wayne. I thought he was the only one who didn't look like all the rest!
