View Full Version : Things are really not so bad, but I don't dare believe it

a year and a half ago I was on a hospital bed in the middle of the night after a deliberate overdose.

now I am back at work full time. Okay so my doctor has told me I cannot go back to my previous job due to the stress levels, and I have 6 weeks to find a new role in the company otherwise I get made redundant... but I already had a job interview whch I passed but didn't get the job due to the stiff competition. I will have another interview next week, fingers crossed.

also

I applied for social housing through my local council... this is low rent, good quality housing for those who need it. Normally people wait years on the waiting list, but just a month after applying I received a letter saying I was high priority and should hear from them soon. I think this may be due to letters from my doctor.

I just hope it all doesn't fall apart. I feel good at the moment tho.

thanks for letting me share again in ridieland :)

David,

It's great to hear things are going so well. Life has a way of working itself out for the best if we let it. I've found that usually changing a carreers can by ifself be an adventure often leading to better places. Even the most boreing of projects can open doors to excitement if a person just really decides to enter into it with the urge to accomplish the goals set forth most importantly by yourself. It's good to see you up and in such high spirits... You know we can't be happy all the time but it sure is easier to appreciate the good times after living through the tough ones... best to you David, stay happy, stay positive and have faith in yourself...

Wow David that is good news! A new job, and a new place to live, things are looking good! I too have found myself waking up in that bed too many times. But I am giving it a new try. A new name, working on a new place to live. You are an inspiration David, it gives me hope!

Thanks and Peace,
Darlene

Well thank you Marjan! Now I feel neglegted...

;)

But seriously... It's good to hear things are going well for you David. And you even managed to make Agnes, Mimi and Gisli look very silly and fall over all the time with all those crossed fingers and toes.

Good job kiddo!

Marjan that really touched me when I read it, thank you so much. I still have fond memories of the UK LRC weekend we spent together and the time I stayed with you last year, spending time with Agnes, Eva, Marg and you... my Dutch rudie friends are very special people :)

thanks for everyone else's messages too.

It's not sure I'll get the place I've been offered as I'm third on the list, but it is so encouraging to get an offer after one month when it often takes years.

David, don't be discouraged by what you said about being third on the list. It will be a matter of a few weeks at most surely before you get somewhere. These things just take a little time and won't be immediate (they'll give you time to pack). Take care, my friend and you know where I am....

thanks Annabel.

I just got a letter from another housing authority saying they are classing me "low priority"- high for some, low for others... hmmmm

I need some rudie energy here folks....

my neighbour contacted the local Environmental Health Office, who are twisting our landlord's arm to carry out urgent repairs. This is part of the reason we are high on the priority list, as well as health reasons.

Environmental Health now say that as they have issued an Enforcement Notice to the landlord to carry out the repairs and he has not done so. That expires Thursday so she (the Environmental Health woman) is coming roudn Thursday to check what has not been done, before issuing a prohibition order. That is scary, as a prohibition order may mean eviction from this place, but where to go?

She did however say that if we were in that situation we would both go to extremely high priority for housing.

I had no sleep last night again and this is all too much. So I had to call in sick from a job I am trying to keep.

aaaaarrrrrrggggghhhhhh!!!!!

I am healthwise much better than a year and a half ago, but still not well enough for these multiple stresses. Fortunately I have my buddhist friends nearby who are fantastic.

Just wanted to share in rudieland.....

I once knew a buddhist.... He was a nurse on the psychho-geriatric ward where I was volunteering once.... about 22 years ago now. I was in the early stages of pregnancy with Rosemary, and he swung his little pendant and told me I was going to have a girl. :) The result was Rosemary who was 6 days early and still impatient!!!!!!

David, they're not ALL ogres at the Housing (only 90% of them :p :D )..... We got turned down for high priority on the basis that Catherine wasn't getting DLA although she has constant pain in her foot. She goes about her daily life without complaining, and always has a smile on her face...It's a joy to be around her.

I hope you get what you're looking for, and everything will be OK. You're amongst friends here.....

"Psycho-Geriatric" would be a great name for a band. Or a low-budget movie.

One of the cool things about most techniques for determining the sex of an unborn child is that they tend to be right about 50% of the time.

David, the Rudie Vibes are on their way as of now. And as you know, they never fail.

(And don't believe Eva, I'm pretty good at walking with my toes crossed and I don't need my fingers for that :p)
