Oooooohhhhh Eva,
these are wonderful! Have you ever lived with cats? They are so creative when they want to wake you up...

Thanks for posting the links!

I was so afraid I'd see my cat under 'cat wake-up call' that I almost didn't look. Okay, okay, I peeked between my fingers.

My cat hasn't quite done that, but the first night he didn't want us to leave him (by going to sleep). And we had school the next day! He kept purring loudly, which didn't bother me, because I could sleep for that, but as soon as I would drift up to sleep he would 'comb' my hair with his claws! And anyone that has as tangley hair as me (the thin wispy stuff), knows that that is painful! Then, when I rolled over so he couldn't get my hair easily (not an easy way to sleep) he started batting at my eye lids. Very gently, but enough. Eventually I think I just kept a hand on him and kept petting, even into sleep, which kept him content long enough that he didn't realize that once I was asleep deeply enough he wouldn't be able to wake me up again.

Later my cat found breakable objects, for the morning wake up call. Everyone in my family has a collection of breakables, we just like them, they're pretty. Well, he starts by knocking over a glass, or other breakable (but non-fancy) object. Like the glass of water by my Mom's bed. Then (mewing to let you know he's serious) he gets up by your collection, and seems to start with the most expensive or most recent one. And he threatens. He has broken my dragon clock, that way, several of my sister's unicorns, and an uncountable number of my mother's little items. He is not popular in the morning, since he used to do this at four. He's getting better, he has moved it up to six or seven.

I don't want to even imagine how the little punks I send home from the Shelter deal with waking up their owners. O.o

The first one is Misty trying everything in her power to get me up for feeding!!!!! Getting a cuddle like that from a Lion. Well.....would YOU dare argue with THOSE paws?????

My cat used to climb on top of the wardrobe and leap when he wanted me to get out of bed. When a 14 pound cat lands on your chest, you get up! One time he missed the bed and got embarrassed, so he started toning down his activities a bit. These days he just bumps his nose against my hand or licks my fingers. It works just as well, to his apparentl surprise.

No, I am very allergic to cats.

They are so creative when they want to wake you up...
So I see! :D I think I can do without being woken up by a 14 pound cat jumping on me... Or breaking all my glasswork.

Working with a whole bunch of cats as I do at the moment: Kairo, Catalina, Sweetpea, AJ, Kelly, KITTENS (Juniper, Jasper, James, Julia, and two others I can't remember the names of), Princess, Ira, Jasmine, Katie, Gambit, Koko, Kiki, Kaylo, Katie Mae, Kolby, Ciaran, Dailyn, Karesan, Gimlet, Kimmy, Kit, and Heather (the MOTHER of those diabolical six... she is so fed up with kittens she hisses at any that come near, and is not afraid to attack with her huge mitten paws), they STILL never fail to amaze me.

I've just learned that Princess can escape, Kimmy is really a sweetheart in disguise, though she and the rest of them need to learn that washing my face with their sand paper tongues is not my favorite activity, Karesan can fit his head through bars too small to mention, Katie Mae thinks one specific toy is HERS and keeps trying to bring it back to a cage that is now Heather's because it used to be hers (and gets hissed at for her efforts), Katie hissed at her sister (Dailyn, who is twice her size) for taking her mouse, Dailyn did not even pause in taking the mouse, and Kolby (the runt and the youngest, being from a different litter than the ones he was let out with) goes and attacks them all! And may I mention he managed to scare them?

And Kairo (a feral that looks like a Russian Blue and is about fifteen pounds, maybe more) has a tiny chirp instead of a miaow. And he licked me. I really must have tasted good today.

This was so funny, because my cats try and wake me up every morning to be fed. They do this, the way the video showed except the baseball bat.(I think?) Winston will even go over to the phone and step on the buttons, usually the one that says, "Record a New Message". This is not pleasant at 6:00 A.M.

Thanks Eva loved both of the clips.....cg.....

I know what you mean, Song..... Every cat has his/her own character and they all know just how much to rock the boat before it capsizes!!!!! Misty, MY Misty went through a stage of absolutely LOVING the idea of being a mum.....over and over again, until we put a stop to it. :D She no longer has that, but I still have her and I still love her to bits, but she eats her own food.... and everybody else's including the Dog's :D Now I know that, she won't get the Dog's :p and she might even lose some excess weight..... :D One of her sons puts his own toys away incidentally.....

My cat eats the dogs food, too (Dew, my cat at home, I do still have one of those, thank goodness).

Kolby, Katie Mae, and Kaylo went home. And then we got in five more kittens on their own, and a mother and a kitten, who had to be separated because she started to beat the crap out of him.

I got the crap beat out of me, too, by a few different cats. That kitten, a little timid, was in my arms while they were preparing a cage. And he didn't like noises. Well, he had been good, and I was enjoying cuddling, but then I tried to shift his weight. I found out he needed a hand under his back paws at all times or he went crazy. But I didn't want to let him leap down (it's still a bad fall for a kitten, and the other kittens were out, and I didn't trust them all to get along). So I hung on and tucked him back under my arm, which calmed him down almost immediately, and then viewed the damage. My chest had a scratch, right where Karesan had also already scratched me this week, my hand and my wrist were cut right open.

Then, Kairo, who is so sweet, was to have his nails trimmed. Now this makes me believe that at one time he could have been feral. I had him tucked under my arm, holding one paw, letting the vet hold the other, and he attacked me, several times, and attacked her, getting his paw loose. We finally ended up on the floor with one other person holding him by the scruff of his neck, me still holding his body (before he had gotten loose because he had kicked me in the back, making me crumple to the floor, he's a twenty pound cat and a strong bugger), and I also was holding his head (because he had bitten the vet, me, and the other person), which gave him free range to bite my hand. He finally did get me good, he got me (with claws) on the neck. It wasn't so horrible as the hand cut, but it was bad enough that it really looks like I've been beaten today. I feel like it, too.

Working with cats is dangerous, no matter how well you know them! I was just glad it wasn't a cat in quarantine or surgery that I might have to ask, "Are they okay? What did I just get punctured into me with these claws?" On top of cutting myself with the can the other day while washing dishes, this volunteer job has not been treating me nicely, this week.

Great videos Eva, thanks.

All those cartoon cat antics are very familiar. One of my cats is into hair pulling as well. If they ever grow opposable thumbs, I will be hiding all the bats.

That habit is one of the most painful  Copper (Peep's dad....Misty is Peep's Grandma.....) used to do that in an "affectionate" sort of way, but I knew what he meant and didn't stop him from doing it.Although it hurt alot, you put up with it because you know it's just a cat's way of expressing affection.... :D

That first video sure started my day with a good laugh. Thanks Eva! Especially funny because my Purrelli has used all those wake up calls except the bat over the years. Now he only gently brushes my face with his paws. Even if I cover my head with the blanket he manages to find my face. I think the fact that I aways laugh just encourages him to do it more. Here's the reason I'm tired all the time: ;)

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but: cats will often eat dog food, but cannot get any nutrition for many brands, and none are a balanced diet for a cat. A lot of dog food is made out of grain, but cats have to have a certain amount of meat in their diets (or vitamin supplements) or they'll get sick.

So, do make sure they get the food they're meant to have, especially canned food now and then. There's nothing quite like the sight of a rather large cat trying to crawl into a cat food can.

Kittens too..... Always squash your cat and dog food cans before disposing of them so they can't get it over their heads. Several times I have had to pull cans off kittens' heads because I haven't disposed of the can properly. Very funny in the dead of night....(I don't think....)

Don't worry DaveM, my cat eats his food (wet food and dry) PLUS the dog's food. The only one we're worried about not getting enough nutrition is the dog (a labrador retriever you practically have to beg to eat sometimes), though she's healthy, too.

The cats at the shelter all get wet food and dry food, except for the occasional one that turns up its nose at dry food repeatedly so that it's a waste of resources to give them dry food (we had a runt kitten do that, and we were so relieved that he would put on weight with the wet food that we just gave him that).

Oi. And watch yourself when you're disposing of those cans. We wash ours out and then they go into the recycling, I guess. So I was doing the dishes and I was washing one, and sometimes the food is really hard to get off of the sides and bottom... You can all see where this is going. I sliced my finger. Not a bad cut, but it hurt like heck, and bled a lot, too.

Loved the videos! I have four cats and an infinitely patient dog who is happy to have the floor at the foot of the bed all to himself as all 4 cats pile into the bed at night.
