To rudies, all;
have a wonderful, fun, scarey, goofy, yummy, happy halloween! this is my first time ever living in a neighborhood as large as i do. I tell people where i live and they get this nervous look on their faces and say oh...ohhhh you live their, make sure to lock...whatever. and yes it is true it is a notoriously high crime area. drugs and all that comes with it. I have the junkiest car on the street. and, tho there are many people of varies national history, I am the only white person on the street...so i think they're all afraid of me "those white people can be crazy!" i'm hoping all the kids see my door and come knocking for treats, i got lots of em to share!!
peace

Well I certainly won't be opening my door, not in this neighbourhood. Remember Mr Attempted Murderer next door? Besides, the kids don’t make the rounds in my building. Now, where did I put that Taser gun?

Happy Halloween Hoops!
In 1986, Mikele Mebembe was on holiday in Kenya after graduating from Northwestern University .
On a hike through the bush, he came across a young bull elephant standing with one leg raised in the air. The elephant seemed distressed, so Mikele approached it very carefully.
He got down on one knee and inspected the elephant's foot and found a large piece of wood deeply embedded in it. As carefully and as gently as he could, Mikele worked the wood out with his hunting knife, after which the elephant gingerly put down its foot. The elephant turned to face the man, and with a rather curious look on its face, stared at him for several tense moments. Mikele stood frozen, thinking of nothing else but being trampled. Eventually the elephant trumpeted loudly, turned, and walked away. Mikele never forgot that elephant or the events of that day.
Twenty years later, Mikele was walking through the Chicago Zoo with his teenaged son. As they approached the elephant enclosure, one of the creatures turned and walked over to near where Mikele and his son Tapu were standing. The large bull elephant stared at Mikele, lifted its front foot off the ground, then put it down. The elephant did that several times then trumpeted loudly, all the while staring at the man.
Remembering the encounter in 1986, Mikele couldn't help wondering if this was the same elephant. Mikele summoned up his courage, climbed over the railing and made his way into the enclosure. He walked right up to the elephant and stared back in wonder. The elephant trumpeted again, wrapped its trunk around one of Mikele's legs and slammed him against the railing, killing him instantly.
Probably wasn't the same elephant.

The little animated Halloween guy stood at the door. The large basket of candy was on a nearby table. The porch light was on. Ned came home early from work so he could greet trick-or-treaters. None came. NONE! ZERO!
Ned went and got the couple next door, and they came and ate some candy. We did get a tour of their months-long remodeling projects, and they have some beautiful new areas of their home. After visiting with them, they were heading out to see their granddaughter, and we came home. We moved the little guy back into the family room, turned off the light, closed the door, and I put on my jammies.
Anyone want a Snickers? Twix? 3 Musketeers?...

Karen, you gave out the same candy i did!!!lol Ii actually did get 5 people come to my door, i say people because two of them were obviously almost adults. i had my step and door well lit with candles, lanterns and my jac-o-lantern... but being at the side door, many many many people just walked by without noticing. i felt terrible for all this little kids missing out my delicious treats for them... so i took my pumpkin a lantern andmy big bowl of candy and i put it on the front step for ll to "help themselves" i watched out my window as they came streaming by and politely took just one or two pieces of yumminess. i wish i could have handed it to them but, the run to the front step would have been far to late. i was just glad they all had fun and got their goodies.
thank you again karen
