Hi, All,

So yes, a warm welcome to all the new Rudies, and thank you for joining us.

'I wanna tell you a story', (UK Rudies may get the quote...................)

But, 'tis true, I do.

Some of you (Old Timers) may remember that the last time I posted a longish thread, it was to bewail my situation, well, c'est la vie, life is as life does, onwards and upwards, whatever, I've decided to take no-never-mind.

But!!!!

I got myself into a pickle. As some of you may know, I work as a telesales operator, and a few weeks ago, one of the customers who called in was, how can I put it? Interesting, yes, that's the word.

We talked, we laughed, we flirted, and, we agreed we should meet up. (Do you know how hard it is to chat someone up when, 'This call may be recorded or monitored for training purposes.')

I haven't dated for a couple of years, so, I was pretty much excited by this. We were going to meet up at a bar for a coffee one lunchtime, and see where ................... well, whatever.

About an hour before we met I got a call from this Lady saying that she was sorry, but was not going to able to make the meet as she had passed out on the bus station concourse. (To Be Continued.............)

Did she get fed up waiting for a bus to arrive?:)

I should have known from this!!!! (Clue number 1.)

She did say that we should arrange to meet up again, (or should that be 'to again arrange to meet up?), thus we did and, lo and behold, we met! Just a couple of soft drinks (= sodas (US)), and we seemed to hit it off ok. I found her to be a little eccentric, reciprocated, I'm sure, but that's not usually an obstacle, makes for interesting and entertaining company, and after a couple of hours conversation, went our separate ways with the plan to meet up again on the following Monday. (This meet was on Saturday.)

Anyway, on the Sunday, I got a call to ask if I'd like to meet her and we could go for a walk, (we both live close to the sea), so I said I would, got myself ready, and a couple of hours later, at the agreed time, turned up on her doorstep, only to be greeted with, 'Oh, this is a nice surprise!' (This I should have seen as clue number 2, well not really number 2, but that's the number I've assigned it as repression prevents me from counting past a billion!).

Well, we walked along the beach, bl**dy freezing it was, too, eating an ice-cream, bl**dy freezing that was, too, when she told me that she was in love with me! (To Be Continued...........)

Okay, I have to admit, I did some serious, fast, and determined back pedalling at this point. I said, in my most kindly way, that I had so many things going on in my life which were giving me grief, worrying me, and making me miserable, that I didn't think I could handle a relationship, especially a serious relationship, at this time. (Lame, but hey?)

I said I would call her when I felt ready. ( I thought at that time that saying this was better than saying, 'p*ss off, you nutter!' (I don't wish to malign this person, really, she was warm and caring, bright, witty and intelligent, but not, it seemed, truly connected to the world which I inhabit.))

Two days later, I got a call from said person, wherein I repeated what I had said, expanding upon the 'down in the dumps' theme, and repeating that I would call her when I felt ready. (I believe I would have done, too, as I genuinely liked her, but..................)

The next day, I got about 6 calls from her, none of which I answered, (caller display), and thought to myself, 'Hmmmmm'.

The day after, I got about 20 calls, and I thought to mysely that I DEFINITELY wasn't going to answer. (To be Continued...............)

For the next few days, I got about the same number of calls, none of which I answered, and I didn't even bother to listen to the messages she left, which is a shame, as I probably wouldn't have a couple of joiners working on my apartment as I type this had I done so.

Que? I hear. Well, I shall explain. I was babysitting for my friend last Wednesday, and when I came home on Thursday morning, found that the door to my flat had been boarded up. (Expletive), I thought, I've been burgled! But then I noticed that my next door neighbour's door had been damaged, too, so I thought there must have been a disturbance, so to speak, which is unusual, but not impossible around where I live.

There was a poster on the board over my door giving the telephone number of the company who had boarded it up, so I went to the 'phone-box, called them, and was told that they had been called to the property as the police had received word that the occupant, (me), may have been, 'at risk'. So along came the police, and battered my door down, but not until after battering my neighbour's door down first, as they had been given the wrong address. (To Be Continued............)

Oh man!

The suspense is killing me here.

PeteCC
03-29-2006, 03:47 AM
Well, I went to the police after that, and spoke to a very nice sergeant, who, after listening to the story, asked if I would like them to, 'have a word' with her, (yes, please), after which, I have had no calls and no contact with my friend.

Ah, yes, the joiners. I have had to get them in to repair the door, well, not really repair it, to replace it. I need a new door, a new door frame, new glazing, replastering and rewiring, which they are doing right now. Total cost, about £550.00 (Near $1000,00 US). I've taken 3 days off work as I couldn't leave the house for long. (I can just see the faces of the insurers should I have had to make a claim because someone had broken in via a door with a panel missing, held on to the frame by a single screw, and wedged shut by a bent fishing bank-stick.) Oy, the things we do for love!

But as I say, welcome all Newbies, fun and frolics abound.

Regards,

PeteCC

(Sorry, Dee, didn't see your post 'til I'd finished the saga.)

OMG Pete! I am sooo pleased you're ok.....

so why exactly did the police board the door? was it because this woman had tried to break in?

once again, glad you're ok and look forward to meeting you in a couple of weeks:)

ps Pete it was Des who replied, not Dee

PeteCC

Hi, David,

Not the woman breaking in, the Police had knocked down the door, and the only way to secure it was to board it up.

PeteCC

(Des, not Dee, (perceptual set), talking of killing..................)

Oy! Pete! Glad you're okay. What a sordid tale of woe.

Yes, I am often confused for other entities, but if I had to be this morning, glad it was Des. Met him in the chat room the other day and he seems very nice. :D

Pete,

I am glad that nothing REALLY bad happened - that was a frightening experience. From now on, stick to business on the phone!

OK

PeteCC
03-29-2006, 07:11 AM
Well, door and frame are nearly finished as I write, but the damage they have had to do to the surrounding platerwork/brickwork is beyond belief. I've been keeping an eye on what they are doing, and there's no suggestion of six-guns and wagon trails, so..................... next team, 'Come on down.'

After that, of course, it's the painters and decorators, and after that, the psychological rectifiers.

After THAT, a large vodka and vodka.

Ho hum,

Regards,

PeteCC

Business, hmmm, yes, business. Damn right!!!!!

Ben, should I read anything into that remark?? ;)

Pete, I'm glad everything has nearly returned to normal, but I'll bet you will be glancing over your shoulder for some time to come. We could send RandyPA and Redjack to protect you! And they could bring their assistants, Sister Rose and Hoops!

To the tune of the Animaniacs Theme Song.

by RedjackRyan

We're called the Janismaniacs
And, we're zaney to the max.
So, just sit back and relax;
you'll laugh till you collapse.
We're Janismaniacs.

Come join Chet and Marjan
In the Chatroom down the block.
Just for fun, we let DaveM and Rickster
Dust the place a lot.
Paularoid keep us informed
of all political plots.
Songdragon and SoulMerlin will write
a poetical verse right now on the spot.

We're Janismaniacs
Agnes is cute, and thats a fact.
now Anna, please bring us a little snack
while Manchester Anne plays out back
We're Janismaniacs.

There's Sister Rose and Hoops in your town on the prowl
DavidUk comes in riding on a cow
Wildflower Fever is in reality a Steelers fan
while Diverboy's driving now has him lost in Japan...

We're Janismaniacs
we won't pay no income tax
We're zaney to the max
we've got pay for play contracts
we're JanisManiacs!

Meet Randy and Betty who
want Janis to rule the universe.
Redjack will cook for us;
and Ochiya will beat up hackers with her purse.
Dar chases Karensews
while Dee sings a verse.
We've all flipped,
For Eva's pirate ship,
Even though its really cursed.

We're Janismaniacs
You'll have to stay and face the facts.
We're zaney to the max.
We've got Stroopwaffels in our slacks.
We're Janismaney, totally insaney,

What's our namey?

Janismaniacs!

And those are the facts!

My goodness Pete, glad you are doing ok. Your experience reminds me of what happened to my brother and a crazy girl. Getting into his house when he wasnt there, vandalizing his car, taking him to court for absurb accusations. (they pretty much laughed and told her to get out.) He has not heard from her since.

Redjack, I won't be writing anything on the spot just now. I have just about the worst writer's block I have ever had! Even trying to answer questions for school papers (even calculus explanations) are torture.

Pete, you have my condolences (along with a lot of laughter) about the attempted relationship gone bad! Okay, I have to say this, but all break ups or refusals sound corny. Mine sounded corny, you mentioned yours sounded lame... What can you do? They're all corny.

I'll stay out of the discussion of attracting the weirdos, especially since I am one of the wackos. Or pretty close anyway.
