In my non professional opinion, one of the things that separate talented singers from mere mockingbirds is making songs their own through their own unique interpretation. He has succeeded in doing that on "Stars" for sure without losing the melancholy tenderness of the original.

I got the whole album from iTunes. It's very good. reminds me a little of Radiohead, who I really like.

'Stars' is such a great song, it really doesn't matter who sings it if it isn't Janis. He does a good job of it, and the pianist is a fine accompanist.
I liked it.
