I just tried to send Janis an email regarding her "helpers" thread. It seems I have to do some "connection wizard" to get it sent. I'm fine with my email address--I know what that is. Then I get some screen asking whether my incoming email is a POP3, IMAP or HTTP, then something about outgoing email SMTP server.

WTF!!???!!!! Don't these people know I (along with many others) am tech-tarded and don't have a f***ing idea what any of that means???

I just want to send a flippin' email, fercryinoutloud!!

Can someone translate??

Karen:

In all likelyhood, the web browser doesn't recognize whatever email client you use.

The solution: copy and paste ( or just type) the email address into the address field of a new message.

I think WTF may be the new, in-development, Microsoft Operating System. It has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?

If you've never used that computer to send e-mail - you may need to enter some info into the mail program.

One of your menus for the mail program should contain "Preferences". Click on it and click on "Accounts". You need to enter your e-mail address, type of account (POP, etc.), server names, etc. You need to get the info from your ISP.

Probably if you call your ISP they can walk you through it and provide the server names, etc. as you do it.

I have sent email from this computer since I figured out I had wireless internet on it. I'm not sure if I should tell you that it was a number of weeks before I asked my daughter's "geek" friend what I needed to get to have internet access. He didn't roll his eyes or anything as he set up everthing for me.

I tol' ya--I'm tech-tarded!!

I'm still not sure why I got all that stuff from the link to send the email. I ended up sending it from my regular email account.
