One of the very FEW opera stars I enjoyed, both for his music and his public personality.

Thanks for this. It's something I didn't know, but I am glad I came online. Sad as he was a wonderful singer

He will be sorely missed. One of the few performers of the past century to bring opera to a popular audience. A tremendous talent, and a great personality. May he be at rest. Surely there is an opera house in heaven....

He brought some great music to people who never would have heard it otherwise...He will indeed be missed. Lets hope he and Bubbles are making beautiful music together somewhere....

Even though I'm not much on opera, i have to admit I loved the sound of that wonderful voice. Heaven just gained a wonderful addition to the choir.

i didnt enjoy opera at all but had a chance to hear him in person. my views changed a little after seeing him. My Long time Friend Played Bass with him several times Hollywood Bowl , Vegas etc . He use to cry after because the music moved him so. RIP He will be missed
