............ Jan 26th Janis will be in Sufflolk, Virginia... appearing at "The Birdsong Theatre". Janis you will LOVE this venue... it is an old school house that has been renovated.....it is absolutely beautiful..... excellent acoustics as well....not a bad seat in the house.....

Well after a long drawn out conversation thast lasted nearly 26.2 seconds we have decided that are in...we would love to meet you and Becky (Hopefully Randy Va. also) and whatever other rudies may be in attendance barring major weather problems at our end or health problems. In anycase if you email us a name to make the check payable to and a mailing address and the ticket amounts I will get a check into the mail to you as soon as possible....

We might need your assistance in finding a local (reasonably) priced motel in the area that would be good also....

True so true... But.... If there is no blizzard, and the weather is good then one is stuck thinking "Woe is me see what I've missed...." Being a bit of a gambler (who is always a guarenteed winner at the lottery simply because I don't play it) We'll roll the dice for a Rudie event... Worst comes to worst we get snowed in and Jenny gets to give two tickets away to friends for a small donation to the PEARL FOUNDATION :) On the other hand best comes to best we get to meet some old friends again and meet some new ones to boot...

Just a note....Since 2002 Betty and I have attended between 15 and 25 concerts a year and to date only 1 and 1/2 have been cancelled due to weather in all that time... Both cancellations were during the summer and both cancelled due to Lightning... How do we come up with 1/2 of a cancelation? Well it was the Blue oyster Cult and the Guess Who... Blue Oyster Cult cancelled and the Guess Who went on late... but they went on and what a great show...

We'd love to see you and Bat again... And just think if Janis performs closer then you could see more Janis and we all know what more Janis is.... :)

Jenny, I am considering going. How much are the tickets and what motel are we going to stay in and what is its cost a night? The weather is a concern. I hope for no icy drive. Suzzzzzz and Dan are family... The blood is thicker then water type... Glad to see you guys are considering the trip... It will be a great time for all.

I took a look at the website for the venue and have no idea how much seating there is but as far as Betty and I go we will probably get to the area a day or two early in case there are regional rudies we need to meet and run around with as well as taking advantage of local sightseeing... As I understand it tickets go on sale Sept 4th, so send your checks early!!!

And when all is said and done you have just a couple people to blame.... If you have a great time which all that attend will then the blame (and thanks) goes to Janis (of course) and especially Jenny for rousing up all this trouble...
And if you don't go then you have nobody other then REDJACK and yourself to blame for missing the opportunity.

I called the Birdsong Theater Box Office this morning and spoke with Renee. She says the tickets for Janis's performance are $35 and $30. The difference in price is, of course, proximity to the stage. The theater seats 500.

I also checked into hotels. I am booking a two-room suite for us and Marjan at the Hilton Garden Inn, which is less than a half mile from the concert venue. You can get a pretty decent weekend room rate through AAA if you are a member. ($107.10 for the 2-room suite). It would be a good location at which all the Rudies could coagulate before the show.

The Courtyard Marriott has similar rooms at a comparable price, (King bed and pull-out sofa for $107) but it is about 17 miles away, near 684 right after you come over the Hampton Roads bridge.

The Holiday Inn Suffolk is about 5 miles from the concert venue. It may no longer be a Holiday Inn, I have seen it listed as a Quality Inn as well. The rates for a standard room with 2 double beds or 1 king bed is $80.10

These are only the hotels with available rooms that came up on the AAA travel website, and the parameters I set for my room search was for 3 adults. There are probably other hotels. I know there is a Days Inn, but I saw a post from someone on a travel website who said it sucked, and it did not show up on the AAA website, so I did not look into it.

So there you go, that's the poop.

believe me everyone, i know Janis is the best medicine it's just that i have an upcoming surgery...i don't know when yet, but it's gonna be pretty intensive as my issues have not gotten any better. since i'll be traveling on my own, i wanna make sure it'll be safe...that's all. and by the 3rd i should have a date or a relative date set for the next surgery which will give me a better look at recovery time and i can make plans from there. i love you all and i hope to see you there

Well I don't know how I missed this, but I did. It must have been when I was out of commission with those blasted knee surgeries. I am so so so so so sick. I missed it the chance of a lifetime. We are not getting any younger so there will not be many more chances to be more rudie concerts get-togethers. Oh well, think about me when you all are gathered together watching the "world's greatest singer-song writer". :p

You guys have a great time and maybe we will get another chance to have a gathering of rudies at a Janis concert.:rolleyes:

you can get tickets two ways.... online at www.suffolkcenter.org or you can call 1-757-923-2900
if you go online you can pick your seats... I checked and there are 4 seats to left right behind us or two seats to the right behind us.... the other people in the second row are also with us however they are true rudies,,,,YET.. but they are part of our group,,, so the first two rows will all be rudies.... I would pick the left side behind us because it will be closer to the center for you...

I forget where the others got their motels .... you will have to ask them,,, looking foward to seeing you there...... it's a party........ better late than never too..
