I spoke to her this morning and she was no more apprehensive than usual...quite relaxed actually. I hope all goes well too Mike. But her friend, Michelle is very good and will keep me well and truly emailed :) She will be fine in no time at all :)

Below is the email I received last night from Darlene's friend, Michelle, who also went with her to the Bluebird Cafe. Michelle thoroughly enjoyed herself :) There is not one person I have ever met or even NOT met who doesn't enjoy a good Janis party :)

"Darlene's surgery went well this morning. Her Dr. said there were no surprises; essentially everything is about identical to the first one. He found some arthritis which he scraped away and everything looked good! Darlene had to remain in recovery a little longer than expected because her blood pressure was rather low. When it finally stabilized, they moved her to the "step-down" unit where two nurses care for only four post-surgical patients and moniter them closely for at least 24-48 hours. The last time they chose to keep Darlene there for the full 48 hours and moved her directly to rehab from there.
Darlene has some complex needs which make them a bit more cautious about her care. Of course while she's in that unit, visiting is extremely limited and she has no access to a telephone. I saw her briefly when she first got moved; she was quite alert and happy to see me. Her spirits were very good and she was ready to sleep. I chose to skip the first visiting opportunity so she could sleep which I later learned is exactly what she did! At 5:30 P.M. I returned to find her awake and feeling pretty well and could visit for about 20-30 min. I made a final visit at 8:30 for about the same length of time and she was rather talkative and pleased with how she was feeling and how they were handling all her needs, especially pain management. In between visits, I went to her home to tend to her little dog and gather a few items she wished to have. She appreciates all the concern of her friends on the board and thanks you all for your good wishes. God bless you all! Darlene's friend, Michelle"

I spoke to Darlene last night for about 20 minutes. Things aren't going well at all, but I just hope and pray things will come alright in the end... I know our continued prayers will help and they're yours without asking, my friend.
