Academy award winning songwriter (for "Arthur's Theme (Best That You Could Do)") and multiple Grammy winner Christopher Cross will be at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville on Monday, August 20th. It's a shame that this talented man never maintained the level of success he deserved. Nevertheless the intimate setting of The Bluebird would be a great place to see him perform. Tickets go on sale online on Monday morning, August 13th at 8AM Central Time.

Hope to see you there.

Jim

I thought of him a while back and decided to look him up. I found his website, but he said that he doesn't do autographs anymore and he'll "try to make time" for fans if he can. He didn't sound like a fan oriented person, judging by his website alone. That's why I like Janis so much. She cares about her fans and will go out of her way for them. She is a true artist in every sense of the word and a great lady.

I can't imagine in an intimate setting like The Blubird that he wouldn't associate with the people after the show. I'm bringing my vinyl copy of his first album with me. I'll let you know how he responds to giving an autograph.

Jim when I got the email from the Blue Bird I really wanted to go but I cant go all the way to Nashville from So Cal and not see Janis play. Christopher has a very ambitious touring schedule. Personally I think he is/was a much better song writer than he is a singer. But I love his music and his song Sailing was my Nikki's favorite song of all time.

The Christopher Cross show at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville was really good. It was just him and another guitarist. He's a much better musician than people give him credit for. His song are so orchestrated on his albums that it was weird hearing stripped down versions of his songs, but was worth it all to hear him sing "Ride Like The Wind". The harmonies were great!

He currently lives in L.A. but was in Nashville recording a Christmas album and made a stop at the Cafe. There were about 100 people there -- very intimate. He took the stage atabout 10:10PM and played for about an hour. Five of his songs were from his 1998 release "Walking In Avalon", a rather obscure album.

SONGLIST:
"WALKING IN AVALON"
"NEVER BE THE SAME"
"DREAM TOO LOUD"
"ARTHUR'S THEME (Best That You Could Do)"
"WHEN SHE SMILES"
"OPEN UP MY WINDOW"
"SAILING"
"CURLED UP AROUND THE WORLD"
"SWEPT AWAY"
"THINK OF LAURA"
"HUNGER"
"RIDE LIKE THE WIND"
"ALL RIGHT"

He was very cordial after show, talking with fans and taking photo ops. He signed my album, shook my hand and thanked me for attending.

See him if you ever get the chance.

Sounds like you had a great time Jim. I like his music. They play a lot of it on Sirius Satellite Radio.

Marcia :)
