GENERATION Y BOTHER

Continuing the time-honoured tradition of bashing the next generation, a survey of 315 business owners in Australia found that employers are unsatisfied with the work ethic of Generation Y. Big surprise! According to the employers, today’s young workers are demanding, impatient and spoiled, with poor spelling, poor grammar, poor communication skills and an inability to understand what constitutes appropriate corporate behaviour. But business owners have to keep hiring them because they’re the only staff members who know how to use a computer. D’oh! (News.com.au)

Interesting to see that it's not just in this country. I can recall first noticing the horrid decline in customer service at K-Mart when it decided that it was cheaper to hire one person with a brain and ten people with telephones than ten people with brains. I still wonder what would happen if no one answered the telephone.

Urgh... It's not all of us, honestly. This year I got along with all my co-workers. And I met a girl only a year older than me that had two jobs and worked hard, long hours at both... Talk about work ethic! Maybe it's needles in a haystack, but sometimes I think people are looking in the wrong haystack.

For a long time I kept trying to get hired, but couldn't because I had no prior experiencee. One of the people that worked with me, that had prior experience, was actually fired after his second week when he decided he couldn't work weekends.
