I have been getting a lot of e-mail with viruses attached to them some very innocent such as a card from a family member etc. I have bellsouth Internet provider and it has been catching them before they get to my computer. Is anyone else getting these strange messages?
Peace, Darlene
Hi again, Darlene!
Yes, I DO RECEIVE THAT DAMNED SPAMS FOR ABOUT TWO WEEKS NOW! (at least two or three a day - each of them trying to make me belive I received an ecard of a friend, family member etc.) I already blamed my school's webmaster for having manipulated the spam filter of our school's server.
Maybe this is a case for JohnL!!! Help!

SPAM runs in waves.
We have a SPAM filter here at the college that catches most of it. In an institutions such as this, as much as 80% of the incoming messages are stopped BEFORE the get to the recipient's mailbox. Here that amounts to roughly 9 MILLION messages a month! Of the messages that DO get delivered, roughly another 20 to 30% are SPAM or junk mail of some sort. As an example, in the last week, 200 messages have come into my mailbox that could be considered SPAM. That means another 800 did NOT!
If you are concerned about catching something, make sure your Anti-virus software is up to date, and set up to scan all incoming email, and all files before opening, including compressed or ZIP files. Also talk to you ISP about what they may offer interms of filtering.

Every time I open my emails I seem to get these spoof greetings cards... I just check the spam box just in case there's one that should not be there, deal with that and then click on 'Empty'....Another job well done ;)
