What can I say??? Another fantastic show!
The fun started before the event when Janis pulled up in a big black SUV Jeep. It was wild seeing this little lady drive that big car! With her guitar slung over her shoulder, she hugged Mike (Saxman).
Upon entrance to the club, I found Mike (Saxman) and it was a pleasure meeting him and his friends.
The four performers were in fine form each one providing a different style -- Craig Carothers with his tongue-in-cheek humor, Tony Arata with his bluesy guitar playing, Gretchen Peters with her gorgeous voice and Janis with her anecdotes and passionate singing.
One of the highlights was her heartbreaking rendition of "Jesse" which was a request. Before the song, she took off her glasses and shook her head and put herself in the mood for a wrenching ballad that got a standing ovation, even from one of her peers, Tony Arata. Her face even tuned red when she belted out the sensitive lyrics and if you didn't have tears in your eyes after that, you were made of stone!
One of the most touching moments was when she dedicated "The Last Train" to Mike (Saxman) a Viet Nam war veteran.
For almost 2 1/2 hours, the singers entertained and relived sections of their lives and you felt every twist and turn throughout their careers. They each played seven songs. The packed house was appreciative and enthralled.
I got to meet Pat after the show, a real treat.
Janis' songlist:
"FROM ME TO YOU"
"SOCIETY'S CHILD"
"MY AUTOBIOGRAPHY"
"JESSE"
"RIDE ME LIKE A WAVE"
"THE LAST TRAIN"
"AT SEVENTEEN"
The cool thing was I saw the same four performers back in April and they changed their songlists. It was nice hearing different songs although with the same passion.
Just fantastic and glad I was part of it all!
