I just received a copy of Flight Simulator X as a gift. It's a quite worthy update to the last version, however, as many people have discovered, it will overwhelm the mightiest processor/memory/video card combination on earth if you turn the detail settings up too high. In my case, "too high" seems to be about a third of what the program is capable of reproducing.
I'm tweaking settings and hoping to find some sort of happy medium that I can live with, but meanwhile, the possibilities have me thinking of a hardware upgrade. I am currently running a dual-core Athlon 3800+ with 1 gig RAM and 256 MB integrated graphics (though I can add a video card--provided the power supply will handle it).
Anyone have any idea which would help more: a 512 MB graphics card or an additional 1 gig of RAM? Am strongly considering adding both.
