Janis and everyone,

Here is a link to a BBC "Front Row" interview with Leonard Cohen available via podcast. Click on "July 13th Highlights".

This is likely to disappear soon since the original interview was broadcast on July 9th and I only discovered this yesterday, so don't delay if you want to get it!

Thanks Anna! What an interesting man. I love songs that he's written but actually find his speaking voice more pleasing than when he's singing. It would be cool to hear Leonard and Janis talk about music.

It is hard to find a composer who is able to match such compelling lyrics with haunting melodies......Dylan would come to mind, tho many of his lyrics are more cryptic, to me, than Leonard's....Paul Simon is up there....Janis......His own rendering of the songs suffers, altho his singing had improved thru the years, but I think of him as one of the great American composers, like Randy Newman, who is an acquired taste as a performer.....when it comes to the songs themselves........staggering :)

I agree Roady; couldn't get past his singing voice so never really fell for the songs.
