Hi Gang,
Back again! I've missed you all. Sorry I've been so absent. We've been in the midst of some remodeling so it's hard to find time to make my way to the computer room. So much friggin' shopping to be done to pick out this counter and that cabinet and what color and what about pulls and what kind of oven and micro and dryer and blah blah blah blah blah. I HATE shopping of any kind, well accept for books and food. But I'm thrilled to say that the last choice has been made as of yesterday (door pulls), the floor has been put down (marmoleum) and the appliances will be installed tomorrow. By this weekend we might actually be starting to move back into our kitchen. All that will be left is some fine tuning, but no more shopping thank goodness. Well, of course, accept now I think I need new dishes and cookware.

I did buy an ice cream maker yesterday.....hey it was on sale and I've always wanted one.

I hope I never have to go through this again. I thank goodness that Peggy and I have similar tastes, I could imagine that a remodel could absolutely bring about some divorces.

I'll be back more often after this week, I think.

Good to see you again, Dar.
We're also in the last phase of a kitchen remodel and both plenty ready to be done. The counter tops are supposed to be in this week and then when he installs those we'll get to have the new sink, fixtures, disposal & dishwasher all hooked up. Ummm, still have to pick out the pulls, but thought we'd see how it all looked and then make a final decision...we really to have WAY too many choices in this country.

It was SOOOOO much easier (and faster) to spend my kitchen remodeling money on a dream vacation to Hawaii for my parents (thanks AGAIN Cardiffgal!). It still needs to be done next year, so any hints from you who are remodeling would be helpful!

Well, still not ready to move back in the kitchen. The dishwasher got installed, but the oven didn't. Some last minute countertop stuff isn't done yet, and there was some other thing that needed to be done before the washer dryer could be put in their new location.

Judy, as to pulls. We went to two stores in our area that sell ONLY pulls and knobs and such. Peggy liked one from one store better, I liked one from the other store better, although we each liked the other's choice well enough. Then we went to Home Expo, and found one we both liked equally. We left all three out for our contractor/designer to make the final call and she chose the one from Home Expo. Thank goodness, because the ones from Home Expo were $4.99 a piece, whereas the ones from the other stores were closer to $20 a piece. AND WE NEEDED 47.
We put the same pull on all the doors and drawers. We're really happy with how they look.

I invited some friends over for dinner next Saturday, we sure better be back in by then or I'm ordering pizza.

Thanks Dar,

I love the combination of the tiles and wood. I'm sure you must be pleased with the results. Oh, and those sliding doors look wonderful. Good job!

Dar. It was funny because I was looking at your bathroom "before" pictures before I realized they WERE the befores! LOL I like the new bathroom MUCH better!!! And the kitchen looks terrific! The old colors kind of remind me a little of what our kitchen still looks like. I don't know when we'll get around to re-doing the kitchen. That must have been rough and seemed like forever but SOooo worth it. Enjoy!!!

Marcia :)

Andrea, trust me you don't want our old bathroom. We stopped using it in January because the tiles were falling off the walls in the shower and we were sure the whole room was gonna be rotted out. We've been in the house ten years and finally got around to making parts of it over in our taste.
The kitchen was okay, accept we didn't like doing laundry where we cooked, and we really wanted to open the wall into the dining room. We decided to just go for it and make it truly ours. Nothing says committment to a home and to a relationship for that matter, like home remodeling.

Randy, not sure which photo you mean?? There are two medicine cabinets on opposite walls, maybe it's a reflection you're seeing? There's a tall window in the shower itself.

Rick, in the bathroom the wood is Cherry in a shaker style and in the kitchen the wood is Red Birch, in a slab front style.

Marcia, well it took ten years, but we finally got around to doing it.

I edited the bathroom photos so they are in the right order, before then after.
I can imagine it was confusing seeing a new medicine cabinet as the first pic.

I'm just glad it's almost over and we can get our house back to almost normal.
Company arrives on Friday for a week. Including our 6 and 8 year old nieces. That is what I'm most looking forward to. I love being Auntie to little ones.
