From Slashdot (even the headline..yeah i'm lazy..sue me)

"Ars Technica has an article on the mother of all adware patents (http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20070717-microsoft-patents-the-mother-of-all-adware-systems.html) filed by Microsoft: 'It's such a tremendously bad idea that it's almost bound to succeed. Microsoft has filed another patent, this one for an "advertising framework" that uses "context data" from your hard drive to show you advertisements and "apportion and credit advertising revenue" to ad suppliers in real time.' Ars discusses this disturbing concept, which was originally unearthed by Information Week (http://www.informationweek.com/story/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=201001485&cid=RSSfeed_IWK_News) and we first discussed last week (http://slashdot.org/mainpage/07/07/14/043200.shtml?tid=109)."

Yet another point in favor of Linux, it would seem.

I've been thinking of trying out Ubuntu (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ubuntu_%28Linux_distribution%29) one of these days. Perhaps now's the time!

I like Ubuntu, its a good choice for a newbie to Linux, I also liked Mandrake but haven't seen the latest distro.
