for about 2 weeks now site called Gopher search has taken over my computer . i have verizon.net as my home page . but after about an hour the home page opens to gopher search . i go to internet options and have to change back to default settings , it goes back and gopher changes it to its site all by itself every hr. ive looked in all my files and cookies and have done everything but Gopher search keeps comming back it is adding porn sites and all kinds of unwanted stuff . HOW DO I GET RID OF GOPHER? any help would be appriciated Thanks

Spybot Search and Destroy.. google for it, i don't have the link handy.

Run that utility and it should find the culprit.

You might also try Ad-Aware .

i purchased spy bot . i had adaware it didnt work. but the spy bot was worth the money . it fixed all my problems. Thanks Thanks Thanks

GENERALLY Ad-aware works faster where Spybot takes a lot longer. I attribute this to being that Spybot scrubs a lot more thoroughly. I don't know this to be true but those are my feelings, thoughts, and observances on all the systems that I deal with.

Mike, if you're using MSIE (Micro$oft Internet Explorer) as a browser then it might do you well to install or activate the memory resident portion of Spybot so that it's "always on" and always protecting you as you surf. ALSO, make sure you keep the definitions up to date so that nothing slips through.
