House passes bill to bring troops home in '08
The House of Representatives voted 222-200 Thursday to require most U.S. troops to leave Iraq by April 1, 2008.

I expect Bush will simply ignore it provided the Senate does not. Still, it's nice to see someone in charge making the effort at least.
Frankly, I think the only way we'll ever get out of Iraq is to bring all of the troops inside the Green Zone or a similar area that can be defended by a relatively small number, then shuttle everyone out via airlift as quickly as possible. It'll be like the withdrawal from Vietnam all over again and the long-term results will most likely be the same, but let's face it, that's been the set-up from the beginning.
There is no more room for talk of "victory" or "defeat", or "objectives" or "timetables". The question remaining to the United States is that of how many of our troops are going to die in the desert before our government musters the cojones to bring them out of harm's way.

politics confuse me especially this war mess. how is it that thousands of troups can be deployed in weeks but it takes 2 years to bring them home? i agree that Bush will probably ignore the bill, just as he has chosen to have his cronies ignore the courts. who the hell does this man think he is...never mind i already know
