"Are you sure you;re ok?"
"Yes , I'm fine"
" You know i worry"
"There's no need to"
"But you know i do"
"Yes, I love you"
" I love you too."

"You sound tired"
she says to me
her voice draggin
across the air
like a mortally
wounded soilder
over a firey battlefield.

"You sound tired"
i say to her
"I'm fine honey"
Is her reply
our hearts
silently break
in unison
and she wonders
how it got this way
