Any feedback would be appreciated.

"Richer connections. More expressive conversations. The new way to communicate. ooVoo software allows you to talk face-to-face - with high-quality video and audio - to friends, family, and co-workers, as if you're in the same room together."

Intriguing....I've never had a webcam and so wouldn't get the maximum benefit from this. I am somewhat reminded of a critic of "PicturePhone" service (remember that?) who said no one would want it because of the feeling of being too visible (and if you shut the picture off, the other party would wonder what you were trying to hide).

I'll second Dee's request--if anyone tries this, I'd be most interested in hearing just how it works.

I was thinking I’d just point my web cam at a photo of someone great looking while I sit there behind it in my bath robe with my hair sticking up like a squirrel's nest (as it often is when I first wake up). :p

Dee, might want to be careful with your choice of hair style. Oak and her squirrely friends may decide to move in!

DaveM, I know they have some sort of video cell phone service in Japan. It's very useful for the deaf community.

Hadn't thought about that.

I am curious as to what a "richer" connection might be, mind. Sounds like mere AdSpeak to me.

I don't approach new things with preconceptions, but I've not seen any reviews at all about ooVoo so that's why I asked.

Edit: Well I finally found some reviews and they are mixed. Since this software is so new and still in beta mode, seems some bugs have been uncovered but they are still working to fix those.

I guess I’ll wait before trying it.

Most cams come with a disc and their own instructions...why would you need an online site? Wouldn't it just work with your mail. I have a cam, and might hook it up just to see what is required and what it does with the proprietary software. If I do I'll let you know.
